Peraton Raising the Bar with New Cross Domain Solution in 2021
Mission-critical operations often rely on the high-speed, secure exchange of information between networks operating at different security classification levels. Even when carefully vetted data is shared on a strict “need to know” basis, cybersecurity risks present significant mission operation challenges.
The United States is under persistent threat from enemies trying to access data during transfer, gain access to classified networks, or insert viruses or other malicious content into government systems. A Cross Domain Solution (CDS) blocks those threats.
“A CDS can be viewed as a military-grade firewall,” says Peraton’s CDS Senior Program Manager, Dave G. CDS data content scanning, internal process communication mechanisms, and external network connectivity are engineered with a greater focus on security than is implemented in common off-the-shelf firewalls.
Peraton and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) are actively working on a next-generation CDS called X-ARBITOR, which stands for Xdomain Agile Rules-Based Information Transfer Orchestrator. X-ARBITOR provides a ground-up system architectural refresh encompassing National Cross Domain Strategy and Management Office (NCDSMO) Raise-the-Bar (RTB) requirements and over 25 years of CDS experience gained from engineering and supporting the Information Support Server Environment (ISSE) CDS across a broad range of Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and Five Eyes customers.
X-ARBITOR delivers a secure, scalable, extensible framework engineered to rapidly deploy cross-domain data inspection, sanitization, and transfer capabilities. X-ARBITOR will support simultaneous, bi-directional connections between many network security domains; a broad array of structured/unstructured data types; optional Reliable Human Review (RHR) capabilities; and much more. X-ARBITOR scans for viruses, malware, and other hidden data using a variety of integrated capabilities.
X-ARBITOR has entered final NCDSMO approval processes and is scheduled for release in Spring 2021.
