Peraton is looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintenance of site networking architectures. The position is located at the NASA White Sands Complex in Las Cruces, NM.

Peraton is the prime contractor for NASA at the White Sands Complex (WSC) near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Operating here are two functionally identical satellite ground terminals: The White Sands Ground Terminal, and the Second TDRSS Ground Terminal. These ground terminals ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA’s orbiting fleet of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft (satellites), and the computer systems that support such spacecraft. WSC serves as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever-growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.

What you’ll do…

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge in field of beginning to intermediate network administrator concepts including (but not limited to): DNS and ARP resolution, IP addressing and subnetting, IP fundamentals, firewall maintenance, switch and router management, as well as OSI model encapsulation.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of best cyber and IT security practices in relation to network management.
  • From a security perspective, identify areas of improvement in the current networking architecture, propose best practice solutions.
  • Perform scans and audits of networking infrastructure and propose implementation solutions for remediation of scan findings.
  • Assist local IT security team in building system security plan (SSP) data entries for networking equipment.
  • Prepare and present remediation documentation, including: MS Word documents, MS PowerPoint slides, MS Excel files, and any other documentation as requested by the government.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects, while meeting infrastructure development deadlines.
  • Perform any other job function as outlined by management.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and/or Visio drawing packages to render thorough and concise drawing packages requested by the government.
You’d be a great fit if you have…

  • A Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, or other related science.
  • 1 years’ experience working with network administration principles including IP fundamentals, layer 2, layer 3, and firewall application maintenance.
  • 1 years’ experience with Linux OS terminal command line.
  • 1 years’ experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper Junos configuration and maintenance.
  • 1 years’ experience working with cyber (IT) security concepts.
  • The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

It’d be even better if you have…

  • Completed Security + certification.
  • Experience with VMWare virtualization software suite.
  • Experience, or ability to learn in a large scale, dynamic environment requiring immediate problem response.
  • Experience in root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Nexus, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco ASA, Juniper Junos SRX networking platforms, and Brocade networking.
  • Familiarity with MS Windows and Linux administration via PowerShell and command line.
  • Experience in performing credentialed scans utilizing Tenable Nessus Pro Suite.

This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
