Peraton is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer in El Segundo, California to support work with a high-profile government client. The ideal candidate will work in a customer environment to develop and update security software and assist in assuring security is built-in to developed software and applications.
What you’ll do…
You will lead a team evaluating “end-to-end” systems and subsystems from a cyber security perspective. Conduct research and evaluate technical performance and cyber vulnerabilities.
You will need to ensure components and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods.
You will verify and validate components and systems with specific emphasis on network operations and cyber security tactics, techniques, and procedures focused on the threats to information networks.
Assess component and system performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Prepare assessments and cyber threat profiles based on testing, research, and analysis.
You will participate in design reviews of components and systems (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the system and traceability of cyber requirements.
You will review test plans/procedures and ensure they verify/validate cyber requirements. Develop and maintain analytical procedures to meet changing requirements.
You will Identify, assess, and validate baseline security controls (BCS)
You will prepare Plan of Action & Milestone (PoA&Ms) to document and mitigate cybersecurity deficiencies.
You will produce high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior US government and operations officials

You have a Bachelors’ degree in a STEM field plus 10+ years of experience
You have Strong communications skills
You have an ability to think critically and be able to understand software developed by others
You have a working knowledge of DoD Security Standards including 800-53
You have experience in a Virtualization environment (VMWare, Xen, etc.)
You have experience with advanced automation (ansible, SDN, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack)
You have experience with DOD security hardening and developing security architectures
Possess an Active TS/SCI Clearance
It’d be even better if you…
Have experience with VCenter and VMWare
Have experience with RedHat OpenStack
Have experience with RedHat OpenShift
Have familiarity with satellite transmission technology
Have experience with Collection and assessment tools (STIGs, VMS/SCAP, Nessus, etc.)
