Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a skilled and dedicated Aeronautical Engineer to support a high-profile government aviation program. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and optimizing aeronautical systems and components, ensuring they meet rigorous government standards for performance, safety, and operational readiness. This role requires close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies into aviation platforms that support critical missions.
Examples of duties include but not limited to:
- Design, develop, and optimize aeronautical systems, including aircraft structures, propulsion, avionics, and control systems.
- Conduct detailed analysis and simulations to assess the performance, aerodynamics, and stability of aircraft and components.
- Lead the development and integration of systems to meet operational requirements, ensuring they are aligned with both technical specifications and mission goals.
- Perform stress, fatigue, and failure analysis on critical components to ensure safety and reliability in various operational environments.
- Develop and conduct flight tests and other performance evaluations to validate the design and functionality of aeronautical systems.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including systems engineers, avionics engineers, and mission planners, to integrate aeronautical systems with other aviation platform technologies.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise during development and operational testing phases, addressing any issues related to aerodynamics, performance, or system integration.
- Ensure compliance with relevant aerospace standards, regulations, and safety protocols, including those specific to government and military aviation programs.
- Generate detailed engineering documentation, including test plans, reports, and technical specifications.
- Assist in the preparation and review of project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
- Stay current with emerging aeronautical technologies and advancements in aviation engineering, applying new methods and tools to improve program outcomes.
- Support OCONUS missions as required, providing engineering expertise for aircraft operations in various international environments.

Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in aeronautical engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of aerodynamics, propulsion systems, aircraft structures, and flight performance analysis.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) for aircraft design and performance modeling.
- Strong understanding of FAA, DoD, and military aviation standards and regulations.
- Proven experience in designing and testing aeronautical systems, including structural, propulsion, and avionics systems.
- Familiarity with aeronautical testing and validation techniques, including flight testing, wind tunnel testing, and stress analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex engineering issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting government or military aviation programs.
- Knowledge of advanced materials and manufacturing techniques for aerospace components.
- Familiarity with flight control systems, avionics integration, and aircraft mission systems.
- Experience working with international partners or in OCONUS deployment environments.
- Master’s degree or advanced certifications in aeronautical engineering or related disciplines.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: This Position requires an Active TS/SCI, US Citizenship is required to hold this clearance.
Target Salary Range
$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
