Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Aeronautics Technical Specialist to join our team. The Aeronautics Technical Specialist will provide technical expertise and support in the areas of aircraft systems, performance, aerodynamics, and safety of flight. The role will involve conducting analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and providing technical solutions for aviation systems to ensure mission success. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of aeronautics, aircraft systems, technical operations, and flight safety within a government or defense setting.

 

Examples of duties include but not limited to:

  • Provide technical support for aircraft systems, including propulsion, avionics, flight controls, and other critical components. Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues related to aircraft performance, safety, and system integration. Provide recommendations for system enhancements, upgrades, or repairs to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Conduct performance analysis for aircraft systems, including flight dynamics, aerodynamics, and system interactions. Use engineering principles and tools to evaluate aircraft performance under various operational conditions and provide actionable data for improving mission outcomes.
  • Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of flight tests, system trials, and operational tests to evaluate new systems or modifications. Collaborate with engineering teams to validate aircraft performance specifications, ensuring that all systems meet mission and safety requirements.
  • Support the integration of new technologies and systems into aircraft platforms, ensuring compatibility with existing aviation infrastructure and operational requirements. Provide technical guidance during system integration processes, including aircraft modifications and upgrades.
  • Prepare technical reports, test plans, and operational procedures related to aeronautics systems and performance. Maintain detailed records of technical evaluations, test results, and system performance data for future reference.
  • Ensure that all technical operations and system integrations comply with applicable aviation standards, regulations, and safety protocols. Keep up to date with the latest regulatory requirements, industry trends, and best practices in aeronautics.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, pilots, and operations personnel, to address technical challenges and ensure mission success. Provide technical training and mentoring to junior team members, technicians, and operators on aircraft systems and technical procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of aviation systems. Recommend and implement process improvements to optimize aircraft performance and mission readiness.

**This position is contingent upon award of contract**

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in aeronautics, aircraft systems support, or technical roles within aviation or defense sectors.
  • Experience working with government aviation programs or military aircraft is highly preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, aerodynamics, flight mechanics, performance analysis, and flight safety.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software tools for analysis and modeling of aircraft performance.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance, flight testing, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Certifications related to aviation systems, aeronautical engineering, or aircraft maintenance (e.g., FAA certifications, military technical training) are a plus.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  This Position requires an Active TS/SCI and a  Poly, US Citizenship is required To hold this clearance.  

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
