Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Air Situational Awareness Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing air traffic data, ensuring comprehensive situational awareness, and providing critical information to operational teams to support safe and effective aviation operations. This position will involve working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and requires strong background in aviation, navigation technologies, and operational planning for DoD or similar.

 

Examples of duties include but not limited to:

  •  Continuously track and analyze air traffic data during mission, including civil air traffic, altitudes, and weather conditions to maintain situational awareness and support operational decisions.
  • Communicate timely and accurate information to mission team and other stakeholders, to ensure safe flight operations and airspace management.
  • Assist with coordinating and deconflicting air traffic during flight operations, ensuring compliance with flight restrictions, and identifying potential safety hazards.
  • Maintain and update flight logs, reports, and records related to situational awareness, including identifying trends or anomalies that may impact mission success.
  • Operate and monitor situational awareness systems and communication tools to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Work closely with other air operations staff, intelligence teams, and external agencies to share information and ensure integrated operations.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations, aviation protocols, and operational procedures to support safe and efficient mission execution.

 

**This position is contingent upon award of contract**

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Geography, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in aviation navigation, mission planning, or related roles, preferably within a government or military context.

Proficiency in aviation-related software and situational awareness tools (e.g., Flight Aware, RESA, GALE).

  • Strong understanding of aviation regulations, airspace management, and mission planning best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations.
  • Certification in aviation management or related fields.
  • Familiarity with military operations and protocols.

 

Experience and Education:

  • Prior customer experience
  • TS/SCI with POLY
  • X years in Air Operations
  • BS 10-12, MS 8-10, Phd 5-7 or 12 years’ experience in lieu of degree

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
