About The Role

 

Be part of our exciting team supporting a robust, world-wide communications network, providing office automation packages; document and information management tools; and collaboration, voice, and video tools in a secure, flexible, distributed architecture supporting a classified DoD IT system.  Peraton is seeking a Network Engineer to provide design and upgrade efforts encompassing the network infrastructure across a large-scale enterprise Information Technology (IT) program.  Responsibilities include:

  • Review and analyze the existing network architecture and provide designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies
  • Recommend best practices such as SDN, Intent-based networking, and network segmentation protocols, etc., in order to improve the existing architecture and meet new networking requirements
  • Design telecommunications circuit specifications
  • Identify the need for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services
  • Deliver service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructure-as -Code
  • Develop and maintain network architecture specifications and artifacts
  • Designs and plans network communications systems.

  • Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.

  • Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

  • Conducts testing of network design.

  • Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.

  • Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.

  • Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

  • Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

     

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD, 4 years of additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree
  • TS/SCI level clearance is required
  • Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware including: routers, switches, firewalls, unified communications equipment
  • Proven experience in VMware environments
  • Proven experience in virtual and physical Internet Protocol and Fiber Channel networks and routing protocols
  • Proven experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors
  • Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III
  • Professional certification in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL is desired

Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
