Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking skilled and qualified candidates for their Night Shift Supervisor (2nd Shift) position to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals. The Night Shift Supervisor works at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Central Repair Facility (CRF) in Topeka, KS.  The CRF is a depot repair facility for USPS mail processing, delivery, and bulk mail systems repairable parts. Examples: repairing printed circuit boards, electrical, electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies to component level. The CRF provides depot level maintenance for essential automation, mechanization, retail and bulk mail processing systems used in all mail processing and retail installations.

 

Our Night Shift Supervisor manages the activities of personnel assigned to 2nd Shift operations across all departments. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance to policies and procedures, quality of workmanship, production requirements, safety, building security, and personnel matters. Oversees projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group performed by Unionized, non-exempt and/or exempt employees. Specific tasks include:

  • Plans, schedules, and delegates work and special projects to employees on a priority basis. Evaluates manpower availability and employees' work performance and productivity to determine capabilities and required training and personnel reallocation
  • Makes recommendations for promotions, merit increases, hiring of prospective employees, and ways to increase productivity and improve repair procedures
  • Helps motivate workers and provides technical guidance
  • Deals with disciplinary actions
  • Reviews and evaluates proposed specification changes for correctness
  • Executes department procedures that typically affect individual employees within own department
  • Interprets and executes policies and procedures
  • Recommends modifications to operating policies
  • Monitors safety practices to include environment, chemicals, improper equipment or tools use and operation
  • Prepares reports as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Extensive contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts
  • Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal or external representatives concerning specifics operations

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years related experience or Master's degree with 3 years related experience or high school diploma/GED with 9 years related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance which is required to start
  • Related work experience and ability to supervise a repair shop effort
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Depot level repair experience
  • Prior management experience in a Union environment
  • Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 experience or training

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Physical activity may include reaching, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motion
  • Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
