Responsibilities

Sr. Software Engineer:

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer to support our customer in the Quantico, Virginia area. For more than 30 years, we’ve partnered with customers to advance critical missions across the globe - providing innovative, reliable solutions for Intelligence, Defense, and Federal Civilian Agencies.

  • Conducts research in design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software.
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensures software standards are met.
  • Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Coordinates software system installations and monitors equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
  • Translate detailed design into computer software.
  • Enhance software to reduce operating times or improve efficiency.
  • Performs reverse engineering.
  • Develop software solutions compatible with Concept of Operations.
Qualifications

 

  • Position requires an active Top Secret clearance with ability to potentially upgrade to TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of software engineering development experience on host applications and/or embedded processing systems; four years of additional software development experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux applications, systems and API development.
  • Ability to contribute to system-level design in order to optimize overall system performance and reliability.
  • 4 years' in-depth experience with Windows and Linux applications, systems and API development.
  • 6 years’ experience perform in-depth analysis of wired and wireless network traffic using Wireshark or other compatible protocol analyzer.
  • Experience in networking protocols such as TCP/IP and network-based communication protocols.
  • 8 years' experience in the use of programming languages such as Bash, Python, C, C++, C# and .NET Framework.
  • 3 years' experience in the use of programming languages such as Qt and Meta Object Complier (moc).
  • Experienced at providing technical direction to programmers to ensure program deadlines are met.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
