Responsibilities

The Tester will ensure the system's quality and reliability through comprehensive testing strategies within the program. This role involves working closely with development teams to design, develop, and execute test plans, identify defects, and ensure that the system meets the highest standards of quality and performance. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a SAFe Agile environment. The Tester will play a critical role in maintaining the quality and efficiency of software solutions to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in detecting and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse within government-sponsored health programs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, regression, performance, and integration testing.
  • Collaborate with development and product teams to understand requirements and design test strategies that ensure comprehensive coverage of features and functionalities.
  • Identify, document, and track defects using issue tracking tools, and work with development teams to resolve them.
  • Perform root cause analysis on identified defects and provide detailed reports on testing activities, including test results, coverage, and defect density.
  • Use performance testing tools to assess the scalability and performance of the software applications.
  • Work closely with DevSecOps engineers to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Ensure that testing activities are aligned with project schedules and deadlines.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to provide input on testing progress and challenges.
  • Continuously improve testing processes, tools, and techniques to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing efforts.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA, 6 years no degree
  • Extensive Experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, and Cucumber.
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API development, microservices architecture, the ActiveMQ message broker, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with front-end technologies (Angular, React).
  • Experience with the version control systems (GitHub) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (Jenkins).
  • Experience with system monitoring tools (Apache JMeter, Grafana, Splunk, New Relic, CloudWatch).
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, Bash scripting, Linux, AWS services (Amazon MQ, SQS, S3, EC2, EKS, RDS, CloudWatch), and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform).
  • Knowledge of security testing practices and tools.
  • Knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and data modeling.
  • Experience with agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum) and tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Proven track record of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAFe Agile Certification
  • Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE)
  • Experience in healthcare IT and understanding of regulatory requirements such as HIPAA.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of CMS processes and standards.
  • 5+ years of experience in S/W testing and QA with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
