Responsibilities

We are seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer for Integration & Test (SEIT) supporting our NASA customer based at Kennedy Uplink Station (KUS) and Ponce De Leon (PDL) in Florida (FL). This position will allow for some telework, with travel to the KUS/PDL Flight Facility and other NASA locations as needed and will require a person who is within a commutable distance locally. 

 

As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks.  In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

 

The SENSE DTE (Direct To Earth) SEIT engineer will support the Launch Communications Segment (LCS) team supports cross functional disciplines such as Hardware/Software Engineering and System Engineering for the DTE LCS tasks and activities. This will include the study, design, development, integration, testing, verification and operations of spaceflight, airborne and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions.

 

In this position, you will make plans, direct, and coordinate system engineering, integration and testing activities associated across multiple functional areas and products, including the following:

  • Provide System Engineering excellence through the System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) processes
  • Support deployment of new and revised applications to operational systems, including performing testing
  • Collaborate with technical engineering teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate system anomalies and complex system/software and cybersecurity issue
  • Provide planning, scheduling, and risk management activities
  • Work with cross functional teams, and present at major program reviews
  • Collaborate with the Operations, IT Security, Mission Assurance and Task Order Leads to support Task Order requirements and deliverables across the program functional elements.
Qualifications

Required Experience: 

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or other related technical field, and 8+ years of related technical experience; or a MS degree and 6+ years of experience. 
  • 5+ years of development, integration, and test (I&T) within the systems engineering function
  • Experience working with customers to document, derive, and develop requirements
  • Experience communicating complex technical projects to high-level stakeholders
  • Experience in creation of Test Strategy, Plans, Scripts and Summary Reports.
  • Experience with Test Automation Tools and Practices, including scripting (C++, Python, MATLAB, Perl, UNIX)
  • Experience with Windows and Linux servers (RedHat, CentOS)
  • Experience using Microsoft (MS) Office Tools to produce PowerPoint briefings, MS Project schedules, MS Word documents, and generate and manipulate Excel files
  • US citizen with ability to complete and pass a federal government Public Trust background investigation. 

Desired Experience:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
  • Experience with NASA, space or ground station antenna systems, and satellite communications networks
  • Proficient professional written and verbal communication skills including briefings and presentations to leadership and customers
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving, multi-tasking, and attention to details
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of suppliers, vendors and Government employees

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
