Systems Storage Administrator

We are hiring a Systems Storage Administrator at Scott AFB, Hanscom AFB, or Lackland AFB. 

What you'll do:

The Systems Storage Administrator supports and maintains Peraton’s various storage, backup, and data protection solutions, ensuring data availability, data integrity, and storage infrastructure health. The position will also focus on optimizing the processes surrounding the exploitation of these technologies and the lifecycle of the data.  This position is designated as “Mission Essential”.

• Accountable for processing Storage / Backup requests, and assisting with Capacity ManagementAccountable for maintaining production data availabilityExecution of on-demand backups, replication, recoveries, analysis, and reporting
• Creation of backup policies, schedules, datasets, and troubleshooting errors within the EMC Avamar interface.
• Responsible for processing requests for provisioning new storage for multiple storage and backup devices
• Collaborate with Architecture and Engineering Team to understand new project requirements
• Assist the Migration Team, where necessary, during complex/critical deployments
• Daily technical interaction with Dell’s storage and data protection solutions (Unity 400, Integrated Data Protection Appliance (IDPA) DP 4400, IDPA DP 8300, and Data Domain)
• Daily technical interaction with vCenter and it’s integration with Dell EMC storage arrays and the Unisphere GUI interfaceResponsible for applying SAN/backup best practices to devices and Storage Policy Based Management to all VMs deployed
• Manage Disaster Recovery (DR) data replication to ensure data availability and recoverabilityEnsure all managed systems are up-to-date and compliant with latest security standards
• Application of patches and upgrades when applicable

8 years with a BS/BA, 6 years with a MS/MA or 3 years with PhD. In lieu of degree, 12 years of applicable experience will be acceptable. 

What you'll need:

• Strong documentation skills are highly preferred –process documentation.Experience with conducting maintenance, tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting of Dell Storage / Backup environments.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and analytical skills for problem identification, problem resolution, root cause analysis in support of Storage / BUR environments.
• Self-starter, team oriented and able to operate with minimal supervisionRequired to have strong organizational skills and can easily prioritize project tasks
• Required to have excellent communication skills (both oral and written) Ability to work in an energetic fast-paced environment with ever changing project prioritiesExperience with Storage data migration

Desired experience in the following areas:

• Dell EMC Unity 400, IDPA DP 4400, or IDPA DP 8300
  Good knowledge and understanding of BUR Best Practices in relation to physical EMC Avamar and Avamar Virtual Edition (AVE)
• Flexible personality that can foster positive and collaborative relations w/customers and peers in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment
  Preferred Skills in the following areas:
• VMware vSphere
• ITIL experience
• Storage Policy Based Management
• ESX Virtualization 

Clearance requirement/Certification requirement:

• Active DoD Secret security clearance
• Ability to obtain a CompTIA Security + certification for DOD 8570 compliance within 6 months of hire
