Responsibilities
Peraton is hiring a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Administrator for our USSTRATCOM program in Bellevue, Nebraska.
What you'll do:
Provide information technology (IT) support to install, configure, and administer the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) on USSTRATCOM networks. The administrator will be responsible for maintaining, and upgrading operating systems, firmware, and applications for the virtualized hosts and guest operating systems. Additional responsibilities include verifying that the virtual environment has followed the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) by policy and software updates. Provide increased efficiency to customers and internal support staff, leading to a more stable, available environment, and monitor enterprise environments using automated tools.
- Troubleshoot issues on ESXi.
- Perform VMWare change control and patch management.
- Open and manage support requests with VMware when required.
- Utilize PowerShell for task automation.
- Provide documentation of successful issue resolution, troubleshooting, and procedure implementation daily.
- Maintain enterprise images to meet security and monthly patch requirements.
- Package and provision software for the virtual desktops (App Stack).
- Configure Security Groups in Active Directory to link users to software applications.
- Comply with relevant information security policies and processes while deploying new hardware and software installations.
- Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work and multitask.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot systems problems.
- Good communication skills to communicate with support personnel, customers, and managers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Travel as required to perform tasks to include, but not limited to, hardware configuration, software installation and configuration, and security accreditation procedures on hardware components.\
- Automated deployment of Microsoft Windows Operating System patches.
- Monitor and tune appropriate systems to ensure an optimum level of performance.
- Develop and maintain appropriate system documentation to ensure that documentation is current.
- Oversee the maintenance of a history of system-supporting process and procedure documentation.
- Interact with client management to answer questions, problems, and requests regarding deployments and issues.
- Maintain documentation that supports security standards and processes.
- Provide after-hours support for emergency scenarios.
- Execution of daily work to comply with DoD Information Assurance standards and practices.
- Report patching/security compliance of domain-connected assets.
- Perform Virtual Desktop Infrastructure configuration/maintenance and Application Virtualization.
- Provide tier 3 support to Contract and Government Organizations.
- Create and maintain Group Policy Objects for client machines (user and computer policies).
- Use a ticketing system (Remedy) to track work.
- Diagnose problems and escalate unresolved issues or concerns - may provide alternative courses of action.
- Work with less experienced technical and non-technical personnel on routine and complex incidents.
- Perform system monitoring and analysis, troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating system issues.
- Research and recommend automated approaches for system administration tasks where possible.
- Create and maintain work instructions and train junior staff as necessary.
- Manage multiple tasks efficiently for on-time delivery.
- Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical clients.
- Document problem resolutions completely and accurately.
- Accurately and effectively analyze alerts/logs and take appropriate actions during troubleshooting.
Qualifications
0 years with BS/BA; 4 years no degree
What you'll need:
- Experience in software installation
- Experience with VMWare, ARS, Ivanti, and Remedy applications.
- Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI
Required Certifications:
- Must obtain/maintain a DoD 8570 IAT Level II is required (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP) Certification within 120 Days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Operational experience or a working understanding using VMware VSphere technology.
- Strong technical writing skills or technical documentation understanding.
Be familiar with the DISA STIG requirements for Windows-based workstations.
Be familiar with DoD Information Assurance Concepts/Process.
Scripting language (PowerShell, vbscript, etc) efficiently.
Target Salary Range
$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
