Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an Application Project Manager (APM) in Herndon, VA to support our Department of Defense, Intelligence Community customers. The APM is responsible for managing multiple application teams performing activities and work products which include programmatic and engineering planning, oversight, and delivery against customer priorities. The APM is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of individual application project teams. The APM interfaces with the Government and contractor/subcontractor staff to ensure positions are staffed and/or backfilled quickly with qualified personnel. The APM is responsible for planning future work, ensuring work deliverables are in compliance with cost and schedule, resolving performance shortfalls or deficiencies, supervising contractor personnel, and communicating overarching Government objectives and goals for the project to the contractor team.

The APM works with the application project Leads, Business/Finance POCs, and key personnel, as well as the Government Leads to plan and orchestrate work activities, schedules, timelines, and milestones for coordinated deliveries. The APM provides technical expertise and assistance to the Government on programmatic matters related to lifecycle engineering and industry best practices to achieve mission objectives and functions.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Programmatic and Engineering Oversight: Oversee multiple application teams, ensuring successful execution of individual projects. Manage planning, oversight, and delivery of engineering activities against customer priorities.
  • Staffing and Team Management: Interface with government and contractor teams to ensure positions are filled with qualified personnel. Supervise contractor personnel and manage staff allocation.
  • Project Management: Responsible for cost, schedule, performance, and risk management for all work activities. Ensure timely execution of technical, financial, staffing, and administrative tasks.
  • Collaboration with Government and Stakeholders: Work closely with government leads, business/finance contacts, and contractors to ensure milestones are met and deliverables are accurate, of high quality, and on time.
  • Lifecycle Engineering Expertise: Provide technical expertise on programmatic matters related to engineering best practices, industry standards, and lifecycle management.
  • Risk and Performance Monitoring: Manage multiple projects, ensuring their success within specified timelines and budget. Identify potential blockers and manage resources to overcome issues.
  • Recruitment and Business Growth: Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring staff. Support new business development efforts and grow revenue through existing opportunities.
  • Contractual and Programmatic Management: Ensure compliance with contract requirements and internal policies. Monitor product and service quality, and develop staffing plans for contract operations.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years related experience in project management (cost, schedule, performance, and risk). Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or 14+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Engineering, design, and analysis experience in IT systems.
    • Knowledge of NIST's Risk Management Framework.
    • Familiarity with ServiceNow/ServiceCentral.
    • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
    • Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle.
    • Familiarity with application performance monitoring (e.g., SPLUNK, AppDynamics).
  • Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a CI polygraph.

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Cost Estimation: Experience with cost estimates and technical work scope planning.
  • Cloud Technologies: Knowledge of cloud-based technologies.
  • Experience with DIA Cyber and DoD Programs: Familiarity with DIA Cyber processes, EADIS, EAMS, or SITE III TO contracts.
  • Communication Skills: Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

This role involves both technical management and leadership, requiring a strategic mindset in guiding project teams while ensuring that the work aligns with government objectives. It’s ideal for someone with strong project management experience, a technical background in engineering, and the ability to adapt in dynamic environments. The position also emphasizes team collaboration and business development, making it suitable for someone with leadership and relationship-building capabilities.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
