Responsibilities
We are looking for an Azure Engineer to support development, modernization, and migration in support of a government multi-cloud environment with 50+ customer tenants and growing. Aside from technical qualifications, applicant should have effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
The applicant must have engineering experience and extensive Azure knowledge and experience with integration, system analysis or programming experience, including developing Azure systems requirements and design specification. The Azure Engineer will be responsible for resolving complex incidents, providing expert troubleshooting, and performing proactive monitoring of Azure Infrastructure and services. A passion for performance, strong desire for quality conformance, and attention to detail are prerequisites for this position.
Incident Response and Troubleshooting
- Serve as an escalation point from Tier 2 support for complex incidents and outages within the Azure GovCloud environment.
- Investigate and resolve issues across various Azure services such as Azure VMs, Azure AD, Azure Networking, Azure App Services, Identity Management, Storage, and Databases.
- Perform root cause analysis to address underlying infrastructure issues and provide solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage and resolve high-priority incidents, ensuring timely communication with stakeholders and affected tenants.
Monitoring and Optimization
- Continuously monitor tenant environments using Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and other tools (Dynatrace, Splunk) to detect performance issues, security incidents, and infrastructure bottlenecks.
- Utilize Dynatrace, Splunk, or other proactive monitoring tools to mitigate potential issues before they escalate.
- Analyze system performance and recommend optimizations to improve stability, efficiency, and security.
Azure Infrastructure Management
- Manage and maintain the Azure infrastructure, including virtual networks, virtual machines, storage accounts, and other services.
- Ensure that all tenants’ s Azure resources are secure, FedRAMP compliant, and optimized for performance.
- Collaborate with the Architecture team to implement solutions that align with best practices for Azure cloud. infrastructure.
- Adhere to Change Management procedures.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
- Collaborate and train Tier 2 engineers to resolve incidents and implement improvements.
- Document incident response procedures, resolutions, and lessons learned to enhance team knowledge and preparedness for future incidents.
- Provide technical mentorship and knowledge sharing to Tier 2 support teams.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 6 years with a High School Diploma
- 5 or more years of integration and systems analysis experience focused on Azure cloud services and infrastructure
3 or more years of extensive hands-on experience with a wide range of Azure services including but not limited to Azure VMs, Azure - Required Certification: Azure Administrator Associate
- AD, Azure Networking, Azure App Services, Storage, and Databases
- Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and resolving high-priority incidents in large, multi-tenant environments
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Azure GovCloud and deploying in Government environments
- Exemplary communication, analytical skills, and technical knowledge across the client environment
- Ability to produce concise and clear technical documentation
- Public Trust- Ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust Security Clearance (called “Entry on Duty”)
- US Citizenship required – personnel with Permanent Resident (Green Cards) or Work Visas are not eligible for this position
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM templates or Terraform
- Experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other automation scripts to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Azure Solutions Architect certification
- Other Certificates supporting Microsoft technologies
Target Salary Range
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
