Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an Infrastructure Senior Systems Administrator in our Chantilly, VA office in support of our Department of Defense (DoD) Community customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated and high-performing team. As part of the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Tier 3 team you will support an exciting program which involves design, development, test, and deployment of a broad and complex system in an Agile construct to contribute to mission success for a variety of stakeholders. What you'll do:
- Support our cloud-based classified environment, ensuring the uptime of our multi-tenant, multi-level infrastructure
- Perform daily system monitoring and monthly patching as part of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team
- Manage operating system configurations, system documentation, performance tuning, software installations and updates, system hardening, and storage allocation
- Help monitor and maintain mission-critical, highly available, high-performance networked systems in a team-oriented environment
- Work closely with other engineering teams to improve our platforms and eliminate complexity from architecture and processes
- Monitor and address tenant discrepancy reports pushed to Tier 3
- Monitor and manage system resources to maintain efficiency
- Provide Tier 3 development support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain or maintain a polygraph, if required.
- Associates degree and 10+ years of experience in a related field; or Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in a related field; or a Master's degree and 6+ years of experience in a related field. Four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in system installation, patching and testing, and system configuration of networked services, file systems, basic scripting and authentication experience
- Operating System administration skills for Red Hat 7.x and later to include building systems up from bare metal, performing software package installation, operating system and application troubleshooting, and implementing security hardening
- Ability to apply patches, updates, and hotfixes using Red Hat Satellite, YUM, or DNF
- Experience ensuring consistent software versions across environments and systems are current
- Experience diagnosing / resolving system issues, analyze system logs using journalctl, dmesg, or /var/log
- Experience collaborating with Red Hat support (or other similar vendors) for more complex issues
- Direct experience working in Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Maintain detailed system documentation in Confluence, Git or other similar tools
- Perform and/or analyze regular vulnerability scans and address findings
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with virtualization/cloud-based technologies (e.g. OpenStack, Citrix XenServer Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and/or VMWare), Docker Containers, Ansible, and/or Heat templates
- Familiarity with Red Hat tools: RH Virtualization, RH Satellite, RH OpenStack, RH OpenShift
- Ability to express yourself confidently, concisely, and accurately through written and oral communications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with management, the customer, and tenants across DoD
- Detail/ process oriented, can multi-task, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Configure Red Hat High Availability clusters for critical services
- Manage load balancing and failover systems

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
