Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a driven Software Engineer to work on-site with our team in Landover, MD. Our program provides full life cycle support for a large Information Technology (IT) system for the Department of Defense (DoD).

 

 

The ideal candidate shall possess recent hand-on experience with JAVA.  Some knowledge of all or most of the following is desired: Linux, Jira, or Relational Database (e.g., PostgreSQL).

 

 

This program delivers full life-cycle engineering support for all system elements including Development (hardware, software and networks), Systems and Security Engineering (Integration, testing and Deployment), Sustainment (Logistics, and field support), Network Operations Center (NOC)/Help Desk, and Government user training support for user community.

 

The Software Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to: 

  • Implement, test and operate advanced software security techniques in compliance with technical reference architecture.
  • Perform on-going security testing and code review to improve software security.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise.
  • Provide engineering designs for new software solutions to help mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Contribute to all levels of the architecture.
  • Maintain technical documentation.
  • Consult team members on secure coding practices.
  • Develop a familiarity with new tools and best practices.

**This role is required to provide support, on-site, Mon-Fri**

 

**This program does allow for a flexible work schedule and is walking distance from a Metro station**

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • An active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's Degree and five (5+) years of experience as a Software Developer in Unix/Linux environment; or Masters Degree and three (3+) years of experience; PhD with no years of experience; or applicable work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Experience with a relational database, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • A current/valid Security+ Certification, or equivalent, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and possess a team-oriented attitude.
  • Self-starter who can get up to speed quickly and can work independently.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with PostgreSQL database.
  • Experience with C/C++; Spring Boot, Java development a plus.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix and scripting such as Perl, C-shell and other scripting tools/language.
  • Experience using a configuration management tool, preferably JIRA.
  • Agile/Scrum methodology is a plus.

The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
