Program Overview
Engineering, integration, and cybersecurity support to design, build, and test enhanced services for the Department of Navy's IT architecture. Offers a wide range of roles, from cybersecurity experts to engineers specializing in systems, networks, software, and data center services.
About The Role

Be part of our exciting team supporting a robust, world-wide communications network, providing office automation packages; document and information management tools; and collaboration, voice, and video tools in a secure, flexible, distributed architecture supporting a classified DoD IT system.

Peraton is seeking an DevOps Engineer with a strong specialization in Ansible to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for automating infrastructure and application management, leveraging Ansible to streamline configuration management, deployment, and orchestration processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance the scalability, security, and performance of our infrastructure.

While your primary focus will be on Ansible, we also expect a solid understanding of Terraform to assist in provisioning and managing cloud resources. Your expertise in both automation tools will help drive infrastructure-as-code practices, enabling seamless, reliable, and scalable operations across our systems. This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage Ansible playbooks, modules, and configurations for both Unix and Windows environments.
  • Utilize Ansible's agentless configuration management approach to automate infrastructure provisioning and software deployment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Administer and maintain Ansible infrastructure, providing SME-level support and ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Collaborate with the GITM engineering team to design and implement Ansible-based solutions for a distributed data center environment.
  • Automate business processes and software deployments using various frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, JavaScript).
  • Implement and perform security testing, code reviews, and provide engineering solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Use Ansible to handle post-Terraform provisioning tasks, such as configuring operating systems, installing software packages, and setting up application services after infrastructure resources are created.
  • Automate the configuration management of Terraform-provisioned infrastructure by integrating Ansible playbooks to enforce desired state configurations across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Leverage Ansible for continuous configuration and compliance management, ensuring that Terraform-provisioned infrastructure stays aligned with security and operational policies over time.

Benefits:
