Responsibilities

The selected candidate will support a new program at Peraton, focused on Mission integration of a new Space Domain architecture.  This role is focused on leading all Systems Engineering activities and Mission integration across space, ground and user domains.   Tasks include assessing the capabilities planned for the Satellite Vehicle and supporting the Government Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) to develop and implement a plan to ensure that the combined system will be able to support the mission capabilities.  Mission operations (demo and other flight test planning) have a direct interface with the Warfighter and brings together these capabilities (Transport, Tracking, Ground C2, Launch), mesh network capabilities, low-latency high-bandwidth optical link capabilities, network management, tactical communications, mission planning, and the DoD elements already conducting critical warfighter missions.   This Chief Systems Engineer will support the LSE to develop and mature requirements baselines and provide critical information to the IVV&T teams.  This is a fast-paced program that will deliver a critical capability to support the warfighter in two-year epochs.  A focus of this role is working with more than one SV vendor to identify gaps in the architecture and interfaces and refine the CONOPS based upon expected Segment capabilities.  

Specific Tasks include: 

  • Supports detailed design, analysis, planning, and integration activities.  
  • Develops detailed Mission Integration plans in coordination with stakeholders  
  • Works with the stakeholders (Segments, Users, Partners) to define operational details, lower-level use cases (mission elements or components), requirements, interfaces, and controlling documents. 
  • Evaluates the demonstrations, simulations, and testing required to demonstrate mission capability and document the interfaces, internal and external operations and resources required to successfully accomplish them.  
  • Identifies, prioritizes, and performs trade studies and technical assessments to inform critical decisions that may impact the Program. 
  • Identifies issues and gaps in the Enterprise Architecture products set that may impede the execution progress, provide recommendations to address issues and gaps, and address the issues and gaps. 
  • Supports the development of planning documents, memorandums of agreement or understanding, and any other documentation required.

**This position is contingent on contract award.**  

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in technical field or Bachelor’s Degree in technical field with 3 years additional experience 
  • 10 years of experience in space acquisitions focused on development, integration, and testing 
  • Broad experience that spans the space enterprise, including experience with satellite development programs, ground development programs and/or enterprise engineering/mission integration.  
  • Strong understanding and ability to efficiently execute Mission Systems Engineering and Integration activities  

PREFERRED: 

  • 15 years of experience in space acquisitions focused on development, integration, and testing 
  • Prior experience supporting the Space Development Agency   

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  

This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. Us Citizen ship is required to obtain a clearance. 

Target Salary Range

$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
