Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can be worked remotely. As a Linux Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and supporting our customer's Linux-based systems and ensuring their optimal performance. Your experience with ACAS, Tenable Nessus, and background working in a DoD environment will be crucial in maintaining security compliance and implementing best practices. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) Program, for the US Coast Guard (CG). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CGs customers. As part of the modernization program, the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for proactively leading architecture and development decision making and work effort across the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and ensuring effective transitions to support for ongoing continuous improvement.

 

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Linux servers and systems.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Implement, configure, and maintain ACAS and Tenable solutions (Nessus, Security Center).
  • Conduct troubleshooting on vulnerability assessments and ensure compliance with DoD policies and security standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy and maintain applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and end-users.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 9 years with High School Diploma/equivalent.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must have a minimum of a Secret clearance (or higher).
  • Proven experience as a Linux Administrator (3+ years).
  • Experience with server-client architectures preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ACAS, Tenable Nessus, and Security Center.
  • Knowledge of STIGs and secure configuration of Linux devices preferred.
  • Familiarity with DoD policies and security compliance frameworks.
  • Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
  • Understanding of networking concepts and security protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in DoD's Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
