Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a data-driven, highly skilled, and innovative person for a Mid-level Operations Research Analyst role in the Joint Distribution Process Analysis Center (JDPAC) at United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM).
Location: Scott AFB, IL. Flexible for occasional telework – must be local to work location.
Role:
As part of the Operations Support Division, you will work alongside a dynamic team of active military, federal government employees, and other contractors to provide crucial analytical support that informs current and near-term global transportation operations for the United States Department of Defense. You will have the opportunity to leverage commercial and government-owned tools to develop mathematical models and transform data into actionable insights. In this way, you will enable USTRANSCOM to succeed in its mission to project and sustain the Joint Force in support of national objectives.
You will:
- Enable informed and optimized courses of action for senior decision makers by designing, formulating, and executing mathematical models of current and near-term deployment and distribution operations using a combination of open-source, commercial, and government supply chain tools.
- Evaluate recent operational history and existing end-to-end distribution courses of action using statistical analysis, data mining, discrete event simulation, optimization, and predictive modeling techniques.
- Identify and quantify potential improvements in operational performance and cost avoidance opportunities in a multi-billion-dollar transportation organization.
- Construct and maintain data extract, transform, and load processes in enterprise data environments that enable senior decision makers to gain a holistic understanding of demand and capacity in the Joint Distribution and Deployment Enterprise.
- Collaborate with teammates to support complex studies, force flow conferences, command exercises, real-world events, and responses to short-term requests for information.
- Transform model outputs and other data into meaningful visualizations, reports, and briefings that communicate advanced concepts and information in a way that is compelling and understandable for the intended audience.
- Deliver verbal reports of operational analyses to peers, leadership, and other information consumers in the form of well-crafted briefings and team meetings.
- Support design, testing, and development of new technological capabilities at USTRANSCOM that apply to analysis of current and near-term operations.
- Adapt to errors, technology outages, and changing customer requirements to minimize delays in providing support to USTRANSCOM operations.
