Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Mid-level Technical Writer with an Active Secret Clearance. Work will be 100% onsite in the King George/Dahlgren area supporting our Department of Defense (DoD) customer. No remote work or hybrid schedule. 

 

As part of a highly talented, motivated and high performing team, you will support an exciting program which involves composing technical documentation to including manuals, training materials guides, proposal and reports. Other duties to include setting guidelines and standard procedures for producing documents, establishing documentation schedules, and serving as editing point for final documents. Responsible for creating documents from technical information provided by technical staff or ensuring documents produced by technical staff are consistent with formats and standards. Responsibilities to include but no limited to:

  • Prepare publication of documents through the NSWCDD public document process
  • Responsible for submitting and tracking the release of the approval process
  • Perform technical writing for technical and administrative publications
  • Conduct the configuration control and maintain cognizant oversight at all stages of document generation and maintenance
  • Perform technical writing for system test procedures, user operation instruction manuals, and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting procedures
  • Perform technical editing of existing Government documents and presentations to ensure technical consistency, format consistency, and proper grammar
  • Interacting with gov't senior leadership as well as other individuals across organizations.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the customer.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must possess an Active Secret Clearance
  • Must have previous experience or possess strong knowledge of combat systems
  • At least three (3) years of experience which includes gathering, analyzing, and composing technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel
  • Experience composing technical documents including, user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports in accordance with technical documentation guidelines and standards, editing functional descriptions, system specifications, user's manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents ensuring grammatical correctness, and conducting research while ensuring the use of proper technical terminology
  • Strong working knowledge of classified and unclassified military standards and specifications
  • Experience in classified document marking, handling, and tracking
  • Strong attentional to detail is a must
  • Experience with documentation and data formatting tools and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Must be a quick self-starter and have a strong attention to detail in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and with others, across multiple organizations, to meet established goals within schedule-driven timeline
  • Previous experience working with the DoD customer is a huge plus
  • High School level plus some advanced training; Minimum of 3 years

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
