Responsibilities

Ready to make an impact and be a part of our Nation’s defense? We are seeking a senior level Systems Engineer to support Missile Defense Agency (MDA) at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), CA.  The System Engineer will work with the on-site team to ensure maintenance and sustainment activities associated with MDA Systems are met.  In this role you will support the Eastern/Western Range Operational Communications Services (EWOCS) Contract. The successful candidate will understand current MDA needs and work with USG program management to modernize and develop future systems.  The System Engineer helps to identify requirements and define project activities, engineer and present designs, and implement system solutions.  As a System Engineer you will be involved in maintaining and organizing work efforts to maintain existing systems, work with configuration management to coordinate and capture changes, ensure designs meet cyber requirements, and communicate to program leadership task status. By joining our team your efforts will directly support our Nations missile defense system communications that are employed on behalf of our client and USG.

 

The System Engineer will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Reporting to Program Management at VSFB, as well as other contractor personnel who support contract activities.
  • Developing a deep understanding of MDA capabilities.
  • Task Planning and Coordinating team activities
  • Evaluating resources to meet and recommend immediate solutions to requirement changes.
  • Working with Chief Engineer and Program Lead to provide and develop engineering designs
  • Supporting Cost Estimates (ROMS), Bill of Materials BOMS, Basis of Estimates (BOE’s), and Request for Proposal (RFPs)
  • Coordinating system test plans and management of documentation
  • Managing and facilitating meetings to support project development
  • Monitoring the health, safety, and well-being of your team and the site to ensure OSHA compliant work environment.
  • Proactively support program additional duty responsibilities, as needed
  • Proactively ensure the completion of Peraton, Site, and/or Government directed training and tasks within the specified timelines.
Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience: 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 7 years with AS degree; In lieu of degree, 9 years of related experience may be considered.
  • System Engineering expertise and experience necessary to work directly with our MDA Government customer
  • Working knowledge of Engineering Drawings and Standards
  • Strong skills using engineering drawing tools and standards (Visio).
  • Expertise in with compliance to building and electrical industry standards
  • Security clearance - this position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance thereafter. 

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of IP Camera Surveillance Systems, Access and Entry Control devices, Voice over IP systems, Telemetry Systems, Facility modifications to include power, cabling, and building modifications, and analog communications system technologies.
  • Experience with Launch Range and Test System (LTRS), and MDA Test Programs.
  • Practitioner of Systems Engineering Principles (INCOSE Certified)
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
  • Strong and Proven Communication skills

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
