Responsibilities
We are seeking a NOC Technician or Network Engineer to support a network providing network monitoring and network outage support to our U.S. Navy Customer on site at primarily the Washington Navy Yard, DC with some travel to the Arlington, VA location.
Candidiates must be able to work 12 hour night shifts and have reliable transportation to make it in to work during inclement weather.
Work hours are Sunday through Tuesday 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. with occasional Wednesdays.
What will you do:
- Working in a team environment and will be responsible for creating incident tickets, troubleshooting network related incidents, contacting site POCs for touch labor support, work with various circuit providers to obtain the status of repair for circuits and coordinate efforts to resolve network outages.
- Create and resolve incident cases using BMC Remedy ITSM.
- Gain exposure to a variety of technologies including enterprise radio, microwave back-hauls and wireless access points.
- Monitor and maintain a network supporting emergency services and first responders by helping to troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain network availability.
- Update customers and government representatives on network issues that are varied and range from simple to complex.
- Provide knowledge and technical assistance in the areas of installation, maintenance, and support of network infrastructure following established methodologies and processes.
- Perform root cause analysis, problem determination, and support of technical issues related to basic router/switch/firewall configurations, circuit outages and diverse routing protocols.
- Handle network issues through troubleshooting network infrastructure problems.
Qualifications
What you'll need:
- BS with 2 years experience or High School with 6 years experience.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS.
- Must be able to obtain a Comptia Security + certification per DOD 8570 policy compliance within 90 days after employment if you do not currently hold this certification.
- Must be able to obtain a networking certification (CCNA, JNCIA, etc..) 180 days after employment if you do not currently hold a certification.
Desired Experience:
- Active CCNA, JNCIA certification or other networking certification.
- Have proficiency in Network Monitoring.
- Possess good analytical skills and experience with troubleshooting techniques.
- Have experience with cable plant management for data and service provider connectivity.
- Are a reliable self-starter that can work in a team environment with the ability to follow instructions when needed and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
Target Salary Range
$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
