Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a skilled Computer/Peripheral Operator to join our growing team!  The TRIMARC Traffic Operations Center is a 24/7/365 environment. The ideal TRIMARC operators will have responsibility of assessing all incoming traffic data and determining in real time the content and priority of traffic reports to be disseminated.  The TRIMARC operators accurately process large volumes of data from a wide variety of sources.  The TRIMARC operators are the principal contact for many agencies and members of the public.  The operators routinely communicate with emergency service personnel and transportation officials representing various agencies in the TRIMARC region.  The operator’s telephone manners and image will directly reflect on the image of the TOC and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

 

This is a part time role! 

 

Shift/Hours:  The TOC operator may work various shifts and may be required to work weekends, holidays, and fill in on other shifts when needed.

 

The main shift for this role will be days, Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (24 hours a week).

 

Additional Duties Include:

Monitoring automated traffic management system.  This includes checking on road sensor data and double-checking video surveillance systems and mobile units to confirm data;

  • Watching Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) video monitors
  • Monitoring emergency frequency scanners
  • Communicating effectively with the public and government agencies
  • Maintaining radio communications with Freeway Service Patrols
  • Maintaining radio and telephone communications with PSAs
  • Crosschecking static databases regarding construction and special events
  • Providing written reports as required
  • Other ancillary duties as determined by the Operations Manager

Additional EAST END Tunnel duties:

Operators are responsible for the monitoring of and responding to East End Tunnel assets and systems such as:

  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and software
  • SIMPLEX security systems
  • CCTV surveilling cameras
  • Public Address systems (PA)
  • Radio Override and rebroadcasting systems
  • Communicating effectively with the public and government agencies
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years experience
  • Must have familiarity with computer applications i.e., typical office software suites
  • Ability to multi-task information from multiple diverse simultaneous inputs, including automated road sensor data, emergency frequency scanners, two-way radios, CCTV cameras, aircraft, and computer databases
  • Good vision – must be able to read items on a computer screen and CCTV cameras
  • Good hearing – ability to hear two-way radio communication
  • Use office equipment including personal computers and their software
  • Type accurately
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Work calmly and accurately under pressure
  • Wear safety equipment
  • Work in collaborative team environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate of Arts Degree Preferred
  • Previous experience in Traffic Operations
  • Knowledge of municipality and area traffic management organizations, including state, metro and local emergency services
  • Knowledge of metropolitan roadways including their multiple or alternate names, under whose jurisdiction they fall, where that jurisdiction changes, and what alternate routes exist
  • National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) certified

Target Salary Range

$30,000 - $48,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
