Responsibilities
Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Regional Cyber Security Officer (RCSO) to become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program, providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective, and secure business processes.
Location: Beltsville, MD with support in Northern VA and Washington D.C. *This role will require 50% travel, both CONUS and OCONUS.
Role:
The Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), Directorate of Cyber and Technology Security (DS/CTS) provides quality and timely cybersecurity assessment (CSA) support and assistance to posts worldwide. RCSO's are cyber security consultants and experts whose core function is to support and implement the cyber security policies of the Department of State.
RCSO's secure the Department's critical information infrastructure by ensuring that classified and unclassified networks are installed, maintained, operated, and secured in accordance with the current Department and U.S. Government regulations. The CSA goals are to objectively determine conformance with regulations; provide post a cohesive and detailed computer and systems security improvement plan; as well as document the constructive results.
In this role, you will:
- Assist RCSOs remotely and on-site in performing security assessments of classified, unclassified, networked telephone, building management, and other networked systems at assigned posts.
- Prior to and during cybersecurity assessments, monitor assigned posts' compliance with established operating procedures for data access controls, storage, transmission, and destruction of data.
- Provide technical assistance to RCSOs in support of criminal, counterintelligence, and countermeasures cybersecurity investigations.
- Provide administrative assistance for RCSO technology requests.
- Provide analytical support in reviewing RCSO generated reports for completion, timeliness, accuracy, and follow-on coordination of corrective actions.
- Maintain security tools, RCSO Source assessment checklists, and related servers to include research, testing, and secure configuration of new hardware/software to meet constantly evolving cyber assessment needs.
- Provide remote and on-site scanning and data analysis for Posts systems and DOS programs in support of the RCSO Assessment process at overseas and domestic facilities.
- Assist coordination of RCSO travel, local operating fund budget and equipment budget based on a four-year refresh of hardware and software.
- Position requires up to 50% travel both CONUS and OCONUS.
- Provide RCSO education planning and coordination of courses and specialized training to meet established program training goals.
- Conduct onsite planning, organization, and administration support for the RCSO In-Service Briefing (held periodically at both domestic and overseas locations).
- Support specialized projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of related experience. 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Experience in network and system administration, tools development and assessing cyber hygiene.
- Experience maintaining security tools and assessment checklists to include research, testing, and secure configuration of new hardware/software to meet constantly evolving cyber assessment needs.
- Must be able to support up to 50% travel both CONUS and OCONUS.
- Possess or obtain at least 1 of the following certifications before start date:
- CASP+ CE, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CCNP Security, CEH, CFR, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), Cloud+, CySA+, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER, VCA DCV, PPDA, Agile IC, SNOW App Dev
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain an interim Secret security clearance is required.
- In addition you must be able to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.

Target Salary Range
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
