Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) Engineer to support RMA activities on the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Support Systems (LGSS) contract in support of the NASA/NOAA Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) ground systems. This position allows telework.
The RMA Engineer is responsible for achieving the highest level of reliability for LGSS equipment, hardware and software, through experienced troubleshooting practices and sound judgement. The RMA Engineer will use advanced training and knowledge to perform equipment, process, and systems sustainment to troubleshoot and identify opportunities for improvement on our LGSS equipment. Reporting to the Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Lead. the RMA Engineer will support and lead sustainment improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with contractual, national and international standards. This position will be working with the LGSS Team to succeed and meet Peraton's expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the Reliability Centered Maintenance Process.
- Identifying critical equipment spares, material, component needs, and coordinating with maintenance, procurement, and stores to identify re-order processes/quantities to minimize downtime by using Reliability Centered sustainment methodologies.
- Developing and executing a maintenance program to avoid downtime and quality issues.
- Ensuring Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Critical PM compliance items are completed.
- Following all LGSS procedures and recommending opportunities for improvement.
- Performing and supporting engineering teams in root cause analysis and determination of corrective actions.
- Utilizing reliability knowledge as it pertains to mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, software, process control documentation, mechanical integrity methods, tools, equipment, repair alteration and replacement of mechanical and instrumentation/electrical equipment.
- Training and providing development opportunities for the sustainment team.
- Tracking work requests and managing sustainment priorities in Jira system in sufficient detail to capture strong historical data for future analysis.
- Identify process opportunities in a continuous improvement (CI) environment.
- Daily communication with staff and teams for day-to-day requirements.
- Authorizing and scheduling routine contract work.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD.
- 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience using specialized software tools (e.g. ReliaSoft, Reliability Workbench etc), designed for RMA calculations regarding failure rates, repair times, and other relevant parameters to generate RMA metrics.
- Experience developing RMA spreadsheet models for complex systems (e.g., Microsoft Excel) to be programmed to calculate MTBF, MTTR, and availability metrics based on historical data and allowing for customized inputs.
- Experience with Open-Source RMA Modeling Tools that can be tailored for RMA calculations.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance activities such as FMEA’s (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action), statistics, probability, and complex technical problem solving.
- Knowledge in data analysis techniques such as Statistical Process Control, Fault Tree, Fishbone, and Six Sigma.
- Familiar with large electromechanical equipment, controls, and data acquisition and transmission systems.
- Understanding of mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and process control documents.
- Basic understanding of rotating equipment and proper maintenance techniques.
- Strong quantitative acumen with the ability to perform data analysis including the ability to perform trending and unit-to-unit comparison data analysis and trending software/techniques.
- Creation and documentation of Preventive/Predictive sustainment tasks/procedures to eliminate equipment downtime.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High-energy strategic thinking with demonstrated ability to operate and communicate at both a strategic and a hands-on level as needed.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy while understanding broader technical issues.
- Excellent organizational skills such as prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within critical deadlines, as well as verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of MIL-HDBK-217, reliability prediction models used in defense and aerospace, as well as experience with software tools based on this standard.
Target Salary Range
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
