Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Senior ServiceNow Engineer – Application Development Team to become a part of Peratons' Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective and secure business processes.
Location: Rosslyn, VA; Hybrid: Flexible for occasional telework – must be local to work location.
Job Description:
The U.S. Department of State is seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow Engineer to join our Application Development team, focusing on the delivery of ServiceNow solutions for customer service, data collection, and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) initiatives. This position will play a critical role in integrating and managing disparate data stores, providing worldwide users with access to reporting and the management of cybersecurity findings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in ServiceNow development, system integration, and migration strategies, working closely with other software developers to assess the best paths for migrating systems and data. This role requires strong communication skills to lead customer briefings and the ability to work efficiently in an Agile framework.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the development, deployment, and maintenance of ServiceNow solutions to support customer service, data collection, and GRC processes.
- Integrate and manage disparate data stores, ensuring global users have seamless access to reporting and the ability to manage cybersecurity findings.
- Work on migration strategies for various systems and data stores, creating dashboards that enable users to assess and take action on cyber-related issues.
- Collaborate with software development teams to evaluate and implement the best migration paths and integration methodologies for both new and existing platforms.
- Ensure solutions align with the security, compliance, and performance requirements of the Department.
- Develop and customize workflows and ServiceNow modules to meet business and technical requirements.
- Provide technical leadership in ServiceNow best practices, guiding the team through complex problem-solving and system enhancements.
- Participate in Agile development sprints, contributing to planning, execution, and delivery of ServiceNow-based projects.
- Deliver clear and concise technical briefings and presentations to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring customer understanding of project progress, findings, and solutions.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 9 years of overall work experience. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Possess one at least ONE of the following certifications, OR, be able to obtain prior to start date:
- CASP+ CE, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CCNP Security, CEH, CFR, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), Cloud+, CySA+, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER, VCA DCV, PPDA, Agile IC, SNOW App Dev
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow development, including custom module development, workflows, and integrations.
- Demonstrated experience in accessing and integrating disparate data stores for global user management and cybersecurity reporting.
- Strong background in system migration, dashboard creation, and action-based reporting solutions.
- Experience in Agile development environments, with a proven ability to contribute to sprint planning, execution, and delivery.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, with the ability to brief and present technical solutions to customers and stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including software developers, product managers, and cybersecurity experts.
- Experience in GRC, cybersecurity, or related compliance areas is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- An active Secret clearance with ability to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with ITIL Frameworks and Principles.
- Advanced UI/UX development in ServiceNow using AngularJS w/Bootstrap, AJAX.
- REST API Development.
- PL/SQL logic (GlideRecord in ServiceNow).
- Understanding the ServiceNow upgrade process to include duration, rollback options, and testing.
- Well-versed with the ServiceNow data model and database structure, as well as SQL.
Target Salary Range
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
