Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Software Developer Advisor to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  Join the team transforming the future of public safety technology. Be a valued member of a professional software development team building and maintaining a suite of software products to help first responders improve efficiency and effectiveness. The qualified candidate will be part of Peraton’s First Responder Solution’s team.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for our distributed CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) solution. The dedicated product team is responsible for all aspects of the product: design, development, documentation, testing, training, installation, and release of Computer Aided Dispatch systems that support first responders, such as EMTs, 911 operation centers, police and fire departments. The selected candidate will work with the product owner to develop a multi-threaded, client/server distributed solution for various first responder customers across multiple states, counties and cities. The software they work with are currently all on-premises and on mobile devices.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Ability to provide in-solution unit testing, load and fault testing, and automated functional testing, and assist with training plans and strategies, client coalition management, and customer proposals, demonstrations, and acceptance
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs application software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions
  • Ensures software standards are met
  • Technical document writing and proposal authoring are also a vital part of the job, so excellent written communication skills are critical to the role

 

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or relevant STEM degree with 12+ years of industry experience; 10 years of relevant work experience with a MS/MA or 7 years relevant work experience with a PhD
  • Expert knowledge of web services communication (SOAP, XML/HTTP)
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience with XML development C# on Window systems and C,C++
  • Proficient with SQL DML and DDL, both in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
  • U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Past experience developing and supporting medium to large application suites, which includes multiple native clients, web applications, microservices, message busses, process orchestrators, ETL, and external integration points.
  • Expert knowledge of web services communication (SOAP, XML/HTTP)
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience with XML development and C# on Window systems
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience with C or C++ 
  • Experience with Computer Aided Dispatch systems is strongly preferred

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
