Responsibilities

Position Description:  

The Vanguard 2.2.1 program currently has an opening for a Senior Software Engineer/Developer to support the Department of State (DoS) Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM).   

 

This is a high-profile role, working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and demands a dynamic individual with excellent communications skills, acumen and the ability to assimilate information quickly and take decisive actions. 

 

This position is primarily for normal business hours, Monday through Friday, however candidates must be available for after-hours and weekends escalations as necessary. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and maintain web applications as well as the creation of database objects
  • Develop and maintain responsive user interfaces using HTML, XML, XSLT, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as JQuery, Angular, and Vue.js.
  • Integrate web applications with Microsoft SQL backend using common queries, vendor\tool APIs, and other pertinent data sources.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner.
  • Support the problem management process providing inputs to root cause analyses and suggests workarounds and/or solutions for recurring issues. 
  • Ensure that the application meets the performance and security requirements.
  • Understand and manage cybersecurity risks associated with software development and data processing.
  • Ensure the iPost system and related infrastructure comply with security guidelines, including Authorization & Accreditation (A&A) processes.
Qualifications

 

  • At least 10 years of experience in front-end web development.
  • Experience with common JavaScript frameworks such as JQuery, Angular, and Vue.js.
  • Proficient in HTML, XML, XSLT, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, and C#.
  • Experience with integrating web applications with Microsoft SQL backend using common queries.
  • Hands-on experience in software development and creating client-server applications.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Microsoft TFS.
    • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
    • Proficiency in data analytics and understanding statistical methods is preferred.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.

     

    • Excellent troubleshooting skills.

     

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

     

    Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes/Additional Skills:

    • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
    • Knowledge of design patterns and architectural principles.
    • Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD).
    • Familiarity with Citrix Remote Desktop and RSA solutions and software. 

     Certifications:

    • Relevant certifications in cybersecurity, data management, or project management are a plus.

    Clearance Requirement: SECRET (Active) with ability to obtain a TOP SECRET 

     

    U.S Citizenship Required?  Yes 

     

    Travel % Required:  Occasional travel (up to 20%) may be required within the Washington, DC Metro area.  

     

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
