Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior level Software Integration and Test Engineer to support our NOAA customer located in Melbourne, FL. This position will require the applicant to be within a commutable distance to provide on-site support but would also allow for some flexibility to accommodate a hybrid schedule of combined on-site and remote support.

 

NOAA’s Space Weather Follow On L1 (SWFO-L1) Program is a single satellite mission that that will launch in late 2025. The SWFO-L1 objective is to orbit the Sun to collect data and measurements. The SWFO-L1 project will use a suite of instruments to make real time measurements of the solar wind, thermal plasma, and the magnetic field. In addition, SWFO-L1 will have a Compact Coronagraph (CCOR) instrument to detect coronal mass ejections. The L1 orbit allows for continuous unobstructed observation of the corona without interference from the Earth.

 

As a Lead Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading a team performing system level software integration and test (I&T) activities for Satellite Ground Station Command and Control (C2) applications ensuring system compatibility to meet program technical, and schedule objectives.  
  • Test and integration of the C2 OS/COMET based systems from validation and verification, installation, and commissioning of the completed system.   
  • Generation of test procedures for the validation and verification of software components to analyze requirements for integration and/or testability issues. 
  • Support test readiness reviews, formal system verification of the system requirements and final test reports. 
  • Recognizes and adopt best practices in documentation, testing and efficient use of resources.  
  • Utilizes basic administration and configuration of RedHat Enterprise Linux to resolve configuration issues and integrate Red Hat Linux systems with other existing environments.
Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Experience:  8+ years experience with BS/BA degree; 6 years experience with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Experience with software development methodologies and life cycles; specifications and testing
  • Experience with implementing automated test tools
  • Experience in testing-to-requirements and an understanding how to build tests against system level requirements
  • Experience in product deployment and testing for releases
  • Experience with RedHat Linux
  • US citizen with ability to complete and pass a federal government Public Trust background investigation

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in developing tests scripts
  • Experience in Satellite Ground Station – Command and Control applications and software integration and troubleshooting experience of complex, multi-application systems, as well as Satellite Mission Planning Software
  • Communicates effectively with management, peers, and the customer
  • Experience in planning and coordinating with the customer for product
  • Displays excellent teamwork skills with the ability to lead a team in a test lab environment

 

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
