Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is fully remote. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) Program, for the US Coast Guard (CG). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the operational environment under a common technology framework to better support the services provided to CGs customers.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for researching, writing, editing, and proofreading information for various documents including manuals, procedures, specifications, reports, proposals, articles, and other materials.
  • This role provides expert and timely editing support, ensuring clarity and adherence to established standards. Additionally, the Technical Writer and Editor develops clear-written materials tailored to different audiences, such as operations, technical manuals, tutorials, specifications, and help systems.
  • Research, write, edit, and proofread information for a range of documents and materials.
  • Provide expert and timely editing support for reports, proposals, articles, and other documents, ensuring clarity and adherence to standards.
  • Develop clear-written materials for various constituents, including operations, technical manuals, tutorials, specifications, and help systems.
  • Interview staff to collect information and specifications.
  • Collect, organize, and coordinate information for publication, maintaining established terminology, style, and quality standards.
  • Identify process improvements and develop and publish supporting documentation and flowcharts.
  • Build and expand knowledge of the company, processes, and customers.
  • Solve a range of straightforward problems, analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Develop expanded conceptual knowledge in own area of expertise and additional skill sets.
  • Understand key business drivers and utilize this understanding to accomplish work.
  • Provide guidance to new associates as needed.
  • Impact the quality of own work and the work of others on the team.
  • Work within guidelines and policies.
  • Explain information to others in straightforward situations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience. 
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must have a minimum of a Secret clearance (or higher).
  • Must have experience of web and proposal content development
  • Versatility writing a variety of document types, including, but not limited to SOPs, informative, persuasive marketing content, web content, white papers, slick sheets, success stories, etc
  • Highly creative and experienced with identifying target audiences and matching voice and tone to engage the reader
  • Working knowledge of technical concepts and can translate difficult subject matter into readable content for target audiences
  • Experience working in a DoD environment is preferred.
  • Phenomenal written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and analytical skills
  • Experience in copywriting, conceptual graphic design, journalism, editing or a related field

 

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range
