Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a SolarWinds System Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This individual responsible for leading the SolarWinds team for monitoring and maintenance. The SolarWinds System Administrator will support the operations and maintenance of SolarWinds in order to maintain constant and monitoring of the customer’s infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be able to utilize the full capabilities of the tool to provide the engineering team and the customer accurate and clear insights to the state of environment.

 

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on SolarWinds and other Open-Source Monitoring products.
  • Work directly with the System Admin and Network Team to support the operations and maintenance of the customer’s environment.
  • Oversee the daily SolarWinds execution and maintain an expert view of the current IT infrastructure.
  • Configure SolarWinds to meet the specific needs of the organization.
  • Use SolarWinds to monitor the performance and availability of network and systems.
  • Update and maintain the SolarWinds platform to ensure it is running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Provide SolarWinds expertise at levels of installation and testing & tunning.
  • Provide training and support to other users on the proper use of SolarWinds.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to develop and implement strategies for improving network and system performance using SolarWinds.
  • Act as Point of Escalation for any critical outages of the SolarWinds Monitoring System, including but not limited to, resolving availability issues, restoration of failed systems, and invoking disaster recovery procedures, during BCP invocation.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to Level 1 and Level 2 engineers.
  • Participate in team reviews.
  • Provide service improvements/enhancements by using the full capabilities of Solarwinds, which include, but are not limited to, automation of routine activities, optimization of resources.
  • Participate in capacity planning and capacity improvements.
  • Provide Tier 3 Level Support on tickets escalated by level 2 engineers.
  • Keep stakeholders updated through SOP, on business-critical incidents.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree and 5 years’ experience or Associate degree and 7 years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 9 years' experience.  
  • U.S. Citizenship required; Must have the ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance.
  • SolarWinds platform expertise.
  • System Administration experience.
  • Experience in IT infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solarwinds Certified Profession Certificate.
  • Experience with networking maintenance and operations.
  • Knowledge of security operations and support.
  • Experience in firewall operations and support.
  • Experience in Wintel operations and support for Windows 2019, Windows 2016 and Windows 2012.
  • Experience in Unix, Solaris, RHEL, Linux.
  • Possess an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 4 certification or the ability to obtain within one month.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and use of judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a distributed work environment/self-starter.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
