Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an SQL Application Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This individual is responsible for supporting the Application Support team SQL Operations and engineering. The SQL engineer will be responsible for supporting the operations and maintenance of the SQL databases.

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

Installing, configuring, and maintaining SQL databases
Participate in incident management activities for SQL databases
Design, develop and maintain SQL databases for customer applications
Design scalable databases, creating SQL queries, ensuring system stability, and troubleshooting issues.
Develop procedures for database security, backup, and recovery for SQL databases
Participate in the documentation of activities, system changes, testing, procedures, policies, and standards for SQL databases
Setting up and maintaining SQL user accounts
Provide technical expertise, respond to taskings, etc.
Work closely with IT operation delivery teams, project managers, solution engineers and government counterparts to ensure approved scheduled maintenance is completed
Interact with the customer on an as needed basis regarding SQL databases
Communicate status of ongoing work and any issues that arise to management in a timely manner

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor degree and 5 years’ experience or Associate degree and 7 years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 9 years' experience
U.S. Citizenship required; Must have the ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance
Experience with SQL database engineering
Experience maintaining SQL user accounts
Strong understanding of change, release, and configuration management, and their interaction
Knowledge of Client business environment and requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the ServiceNow platform
Knowledge of security fundamentals
Knowledge of networking fundamentals
Knowledge of cloud operations
Possess an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations 4 certification or the ability to obtain within one month
Interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent teamwork skills
Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and use of judgment
Ability to work effectively in a distributed work environment/self-starter

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
