Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Level Cloud Engineer to join a team of Platform Engineers. In this role, you will be building environments using DevSecOps industry standard technologies such as Kubernetes and/or AWS EKS and will be proficient in Docker and/or Podman. You'll also be developing CI/CD pipelines to facilitate deployments to these environments. Therefore, a strong background in software development in Linux environments is preferred. 

 

The successful candidate will have a strong working background in developing and operating cloud-based infrastructure for Government clients. They will also have experience deploying and debugging, systems administration, container management and orchestration, scripting & automation skills, and fundamental understanding of DevSecOps concepts.

 

This position is based out of Melbourne, FL and will require the applicant to be within a commutable distance to provide on-site support. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

As a Cloud Engineer, you will use your experience to formulate and implement automation solutions to support application and systems monitoring in an AWS cloud-based system. You will provide DevSecOps support for the implementation and maintenance of Dev, Test and Production Linux environments. Additional responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

 

  • DevSecOps oriented software engineer experienced with DevSecOps industry standard technologies and cloud environments
  • Designs cloud architecture and completes plans and specifications to develop solutions
  • Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps, containerized application design, performance monitoring and optimization, high availability, disaster recovery, data infrastructure, and security
  • Be responsible for monitoring system performance, IT system operations and storage utilization.
  • Collaborates with product managers and engineers to develop specifications for new cloud-based products/services, applications, and solutions
  • Design, build and deploy containerized software solutions
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and processes for automating deployments
  • Design and develop software applications in an Agile environment
  • Design and develop Infrastructure as Code

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.; AA/AS degree and 14 years’ experience; in lieu of degree, 16 years of related experience is allowable. 
  • A current/valid Security+ certification (or equivalent DOD 8570 IAT II Level Certification) or ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Understanding of nuclear design and the science behind it (multi-disciplinary sciences).
  • Must understand nuclear phenomena and the processing of NUDET data from the sensors and capability in multiple programming languages
  • Application programming languages and build principles using C, C++ or Java
  • Developing software in a Linux environment
  • Gitlab/Git
  • Scripting using Bash, Python etc.
  • Developing Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, Terraform, and Helm
  • Developing microservices
  • Building new test automation
  • Containerization concepts using Docker or Podman
  • Developing CI/CD pipelines specifically for Gitlab (using Gitlab Runners)
  • Deployment strategies using Helm
  • ELK/EFK, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Fluentd
  • AWS Console, AWS Services such as EC2, S3, and EKS, and Cloud Computing
  • Certificate Authorities and PKI
  • Kubernetes
  • Artifactory

 

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
