Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Summer 2025 IT/Systems Engineering Intern in our Offutt AFB, NE location with no remote telework allowed. We have exciting internship opportunities at Offutt AFB, Nebraska supporting US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), which is the #1 priority program for the Department of Defense.

 

Peraton operates the IT systems for USSTRATCOM in all domains: land, air, sea, space, and cyber. To effectively support this large mission, USSTRATCOM depends on Peraton/ITCC to operate/maintain the IT as well as lead modernization efforts around infrastructure and application deployment. This includes Cybersecurity to more readily defend, detect, and improve the IT. The 10-week paid program will include projects tied to Cybersecurity as well as becoming familiar with all the other aspects of the Information Technology Capabilities Contract (ITCC) program. There will be group and individual projects along with detailed IT technical training.

 

Selected candidates will be put in for a Top-Secret clearance ahead of the intern program start. Successful candidates could transition to part-time paid support and also be submitted for upgraded security clearances.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in requirements analysis, functional analysis, and synthesis of USSTRATCOM’s systems requirements.
  • Contribute to building hardware and software technical solutions based on requirements gathering interviews with the customer and submitted requirements documents.
  • Assist with developing project definitions and engineering estimates to include cost estimates and cost benefit analyses.
  • Coordinate/perform implementation of approved technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of, and adherence to, project schedules.
  • Provide responses to Government questions or concerns with regard to implemented systems.
  • Participate in all phases of the development life cycle with emphasis on the planning, analysis, testing, and acceptance phases.
  • Design and prepare technical reports and related documentation, and make charts and graphs to record results.
  • Prepare briefings and updates on project/tasks status.
  • Prepare purchase requests and configuration management documentation.
  • Attend meeting with the Government and ITCC II.
  • Ensure security requirements are met while testing systems and integrating/installing them into the production environment.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation to operate and maintain equipment and/or software is provided to Service Delivery teams.
  • Perform performance monitoring and provide documentation of issues and recommendations to Service Delivery teams.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a full-time college student at an accredited university obtaining a BS/BA or MS/MA degree in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills in a customer focused environment.
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours per week) over the 2025 summer.
  • Basic knowledge of information technology.
  • Must be local to the Omaha, NE location with the ability to commute on-site.

 Desired Qualifications:

  • An existing Secret or Top-Secret clearance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Seniors and Juniors preferred, however strong underclassmen will be considered.
