Responsibilities
Peraton has an immediate opening for an experienced System Administrator (SA) to support our NASA government clients at the Goddard Space Flight Facility (GSFF) and White Sands Complex (WSC). The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment supporting the Laser Communication Relay Demonstration (LCRD) Mission Operations Team (MOT) located at WSC in Las Cruces, NM. The work will encompass day to day systems operations duties implementing, monitoring, fixing information systems and providing support for the project’s local and remote end users.
This position will be responsible for:
- Administer servers, desktop computers, software deployments, security updates and patches
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per Access Management Systems
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
- Perform all support activities associated with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems
- Lead the implementation of cybersecurity programs designed to anticipate, assess and minimize system vulnerabilities
- Creation and publication of local operating procedures
- Perform IT Security Compliance and Vulnerability scans
- Work with the operations team, vendors, and other engineers to identify and execute process improvements and other enhancements intended to improve operational efficiency
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and provide deliverables by established deadlines
- Work both in a team and independently
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret security clearance with ability to obtain SCI eligibility.
- Education/Experience: BS degree and 10 years of IT and networking experience, or MS degree and 7 years of IT and networking experience, or AS degree and 12 years of IT and networking experience; without a degree,14 years of IT and networking experience is allowable.
- Prior experience with MS Windows and Red Hat Linux
- Cisco firewall, switches and routers experience.
- 2 years of experience working with cyber (IT) security concepts
- Security+ or similar security related certification is required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience with SIEM tools
- Experience in shell scripting
- Experience in performing credentialed scans utilizing Tenable Nessus Pro Suite
- Experience with VMWare product suite, including:
- ESXi Server Infrastructure
- vCenter configuration and management knowledge
- vMotion configuration and management knowledge
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Target Salary Range
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
