Responsibilities
Peraton is hiring a Junior System Administrator to manage and administer Windows resources and infrastructure on a dedicated classified network. This is a hands-on System Administrator role developing and deploying repeatable processes, tools, and infrastructure to enable delivery of capabilities in a production environment. As part of our classified Windows-based Operational Support Network (AWAN) team you will support an exciting program in an Agile construct to contribute to mission success for a variety of stakeholders. Responsibilities:
- Resolve daily Tier I and Tier II incidents, including account creation, hardware requests, and software issues, promptly
- Assist with the installation and execution of system maintenance tasks related to Windows environments, using tools like Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for software deployment
- Help analyze findings from vulnerability and compliance scans and support mitigation efforts.
- Assist in implementing security measures and policies by applying Group Policy Objects (GPO) to ensure compliance with security protocols
- Travel opportunities, up to 10% of the time, to support site surveys, hardware installations, and maintenance tasks at tenant site locations
- Work a weekly schedule covering 8-hour shifts, with shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
- Associates degree and 4+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field; or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field; or a master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Four (4) years of additional relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Compliance with DoD 8140 is required for a Junior System Administrator
- CompTIA Security (Security+) or equivalent certification required
- Demonstrated experience in supporting users in a desktop support environment locally and/or remotely, using service desk enterprise solutions (I.e. Jira Service Manager, Remedy, etc.)
- Basic knowledge with Active Directory, secure print/scan, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Experience and the ability to collaborate with support and engineering teams in managing Windows-based cloud, on-premises, and lab environments ensuring peak system performance
- Familiarity with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to create and deploy intricate software packages and updates, streamlining the deployment process and ensuring system reliability
- Ability to support 8-hour shifts between 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday
- Flexibility to travel 10% (CONUS only) in support of site surveys, hardware installation and maintenance
Desired Qualifications:
- Basic understanding and experience with Atlassian Data Center products, such as Jira Software and Confluence
- Familiarity with Cisco Unified Communications technologies (I.e. Call Manager and Jabber)
- Introductory knowledge of Microsoft Key Management Services (KMS) and Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Some experience with installing and managing databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server
- Awareness of attribute-based security classification services (I.e. Sentris) in an enterprise setting
- Understanding of deploying applications in cloud environments, particularly with Red Hat OpenStack or similar platforms
- Basic knowledge of identity management systems, such as Red Hat Identity Management or equivalent applications

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
