Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support our National Programs Intelligence Systems & Application Operating Unit. The SITE III ITS Task Order effort is charged with the orchestration, sustainment, and evolution of a portfolio of mission applications and services for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). 

 

The potential candidate requires previous experience with Linux and Windows System Administration for applications in a classified environment. System Administration tasking will include installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux and Windows servers, virtual servers, application software upgrades; and supporting DBA tasks associated with PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for all Operation & Maintenance (O&M) tasks and maintaining operational baselines and performance of application O&M activities to include: patching, application monitoring, and customer support. When necessary the candidate will troubleshoot network and application performance issues and recommend appropriate action. Candidate will work closely with members of the project team, product subject matter experts, end users, and software engineers to ensure that the application remains operational by monitoring application performance, providing technical assistance, and consultation to users. Additional duties will include supporting database administrators, developing tools to assist in management of systems, ensuring application documentation (e.g., System Administration Guides, SOPs, Installation Procedures, etc.), and performing daily application backups.

 

Overall System Admin responsibilities include:

  • Provide Linux and Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Tier 2/3 support to government customers and other project team members in a DoD enterprise environment.
  • Troubleshoot and debug server-based application(s) and/or IT infrastructure component(s)
  • Perform occasional after-hour tasks, including but not limited to, restarting systems, application upgrades, hardware maintenance, etc.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation to operate and maintain the equipment and/or software is regularly maintained.
  • Perform performance monitoring and provide documentation of issues and recommendations to upper management.
  • Maintain and patch systems, software and applications to eliminate bugs/defects, security vulnerabilities, and maintain technology currency of systems and applications to maintain or renew existing ATOs
  • Participate in change management processes to include patch compliance and Information Assurance Validation Testing.

Basic Qualifications:

 

To be considered for this position, candidate must meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above, plus the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of related experience; or Master's Degree with 5 years of related experience; or PhD with 2 years of related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience installing/configuring and managing Linux and Windows operating systems in a classified environment
  • DoD 8570 Certification in a primary OS (Windows, Linux)
  • Current valid Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP or similar security certification
  • Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access and a polygraph
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends, when needed for deployments

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

 

  • Linux and Windows System Administration certification(s)
  • DoDIIS Messaging experience
  • Experience installing/configuring and managing/supporting PostgreSQL and Oracle databases in a classified environment
  • Experience performing system admin duties in the C2S/AWS environment
  • Solid understanding of remediating security vulnerabilities and experience hardening Linux and Windows systems in accordance with RMF and STIGs
  • Experience with Linux and Windows-based procedures and scripting such as PL/SQL, UNIX – common shell scripting (k, c, bash, etc.)
  • Experience with DIA systems
  • Python Scripting experience
  • Knowledge of Linux, Windows, and Weblogic servers
  • Familiarity with DODIIS security/builds
  • Knowledge of enterprise level VMware products
  • Knowledge of API Services (DPaaS), OpenShift4, CI/CD, Oracle Fusion Middleware, WebLogic 12C
  • TS/SCI with polygraph

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
