Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled, independent, and experienced System Administrator to join our team. As a System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in developing, deploying, and maintaining multiple LAN environments consisting of Windows servers and workstations. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the stability and efficiency of our network infrastructure, deploying new environments/virtual servers, patching systems, and maintaining the environments ATO.

 

Work location is Herndon, VA or Chantilly, VA, with up to 10% travel to other local Peraton locations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain LAN environments consisting of Windows servers and workstations
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of the network infrastructure to ensure smooth operation and minimal downtime
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network configurations and ensure compatibility with existing systems
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as system backups, data recovery, and security audits
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance the LAN environment's performance and security
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, both hardware and software related, in a timely manner
  • Implement security measures to protect the LAN environment against unauthorized access, malware, and other threats
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights within the LAN environment
  • Monitor and maintain system logs and records to track network performance, security incidents, and system changes
  • Collaborate with IT vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, maintenance, and support
  • Maintain customer compliance and authorization to operate (ATO)
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related IT field plus 5 years of related experience (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be substituted)
  • 2 years of experience with administrating Windows servers (DC, DNS, File Share/Least Privileges, Group Policy Management)  
  • Scripting experience - PowerShell, VBScript, and batch preferred
  • Strong experience with Group Policy Objects (GPOs), writing and troubleshooting, including software deployment and security settings and configurations
  • Experience with DISA STIG requirements/implementation
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, software packages and products 
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Desktop operating systems methodologies (file system, registry, services, etc.), as well as system tools and remote desktop support
  • Knowledge of MSI packaging tools
  • Knowledge of Click-and-Run Deployments 
  • Experience installing and configuring of LAN hardware and software
  • Experience in overseeing development and implementation of system specifications, designs, integration, testing, and documentation
  • Experience in monitoring the computer support to users, resolving system faults, and implementing approved security policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and perform rapid solution engineering under time constrained conditions with limited support
  • DoD 8570 Certification (Security+, CASP, or CISSP)
  • Active TS/SCI w/ polygraph

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • MCSE, MCSA, VCP, ITIL certifications

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
