Responsibilities
We are seeking a Systems Engineer-DevTest Infrastructure to join our dynamic Scrum Cross-Functional Team in support of U.S. STRATCOM's DevTest infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring seamless integration, maintenance, and optimization across mission-critical enclaves. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and skilled in designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on automation, configuration management, and system performance.
What you'll do:
- Act as the primary engineer for infrastructure projects, creating and implementing technical solutions aligned with customer requirements.
- Coordinate requirements gathering through customer documentation review, direct engagement, and collaboration with cross-functional team members.
- Develop comprehensive project scopes, engineering estimates, cost analyses, and cost-benefit evaluations.
- Lead end-to-end solution implementation and support all lifecycle phases, with a focus on planning, analysis, testing, and deployment.
- Plan, implement, upgrade, and maintain new data center technologies in the areas of storage, virtualization and network engineering with a focus on VMware Cloud Foundation, Horizon, Cisco UCS, Dell Open Manage and Converged Infrastructure Technologies.
Technical Operations:
- Build, configure, and test Linux, UNIX, and Windows servers to ensure they meet production standards.
- Perform performance monitoring, identify potential issues, and recommend enhancements to improve operational efficiency.
- Execute daily administrative tasks in mixed OS environments, strictly maintaining security protocols.
- Collaborate with IT Operations on system maintenance and ensure thorough documentation for equipment/software maintenance.
Qualifications
What you'll need:
- 8 years with BS/BA degree, 6 years with MS/MA, 3 years with PhD, in lieu of degree, 12 years of applicable experience will be acceptable.
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in VMware vSphere 7.x+, and Horizon 8.x+; Windows and Linux proficiencies useful.
- Practical experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and GIT Operations; Git workflows, branching, merging, and conflict resolutions.
- Working knowledge of system engineering processes, including requirements gathering, technical solution development, and implementation.
- Skilled in system integration across hardware, software, network, and database environments.
- Experience with SAN hardware configuration and system security compliance, specifically Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).
- Proficiency with system engineering tools such as Visio and technical documentation.
Clearance Requirement:
- Active DoD Top Secret / SCI clearance.
Certifications:
- DOD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
