Responsibilities
Peraton is hiring a Systems Engineer at the Reston, VA SCIF:
What you will do:
Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates, and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together, so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower-level detailed requirements. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with development teams to automate and streamline deployment pipelines
- Design and develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using python, Kubernetes, and ansible
- Maintain and enhance CI/CD processes using GitLab, Jenkins, and other standard DevSecOps tools to ensure smooth code development, integration and delivery
- Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, ensuring high availability and efficient resource utilization
- Ensure security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle, including compliance with data protection regulations
- Research and implement new technologies and tools to drive continuous improvement in the software delivery process
- Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow team members and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing
- Document technical procedures, configurations, and the architecture of deployed solutions
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate progress and challenges
- Design and develop systems to automate repetitive tasks, improving your company's productivity and efficiency
- Address technological flaws, defects or errors; Troubleshooting issues as errors occurs; Enhancing the efficiency of a human staff or other system
- Communicate with clients to understand the needs and requirements
- Simulating and testing the system to make sure that it's functioning properly
- Implementing and enforcing monitoring and quality assurance processes
- Supervising the automation processes regularly
- Troubleshooting issues as errors occurs
- Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
- Utilize PowerShell language for reports, automation of tasks, and configuration of Windows operating systems and platforms
- Solid understanding of troubleshooting using log files, tools, and other various means to bring issue to resolution
- Perform Windows change control and patch management using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Management (MECM)
- Understands various Microsoft platforms (SQL, SharePoint, Microsoft Identity Manager, etc…) to perform upgrades as well as troubleshooting of issues related to the platforms
- Monitoring of servers and applications using a variety of tools (PowerShell reports, vROPs, LogInsight, etc…)
- Understanding of secure configuration of operating system and platforms using STIG tools and automation to enforce systems compliancy
- Enforcing of security configurations on Windows operating system and platforms using Group Policy
- Understanding of Role Based Access Controls in an enterprise environment
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
- Excellent interpersonal skills to mentor and coach teammates
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Expert in use of automation tools such as Python, Powershell, Terraform, Ansible
- Ability to collaboratively interact with customers including senior management, data scientists, and end users
- TS/SCI security clearance

- DoD 8140 Certification (or able to attain within 6 months)

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
