Responsibilities

 

Position Description:

We currently has an opening for a Systems Engineer/Administrator with SQL Server experience to support a Department of State (DoS) Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM) program. This program provides transparent, interconnected systems and security supporting the DoS in successfully carrying out its U.S. foreign policy mission. IRM provides enterprise architecture design, engineering, operations and maintenance support services for desktops, servers, networks, firewalls, and enterprise applications across the Department. Program is named "Vanguard 2.2.1" and is an IT consolidation consisting of the Department's servers, mainframes, network devices, network perimeter, anti-virus engineering, public key infrastructure (PKI)/biometrics/encryption, monitoring tools, telephony, mobile computing platform, virtual environment, and enclave design/security engineering.

 

Description of Duties:

 

This position is within the Vanguard 2.2.1 program’s Enterprise Engineering Office (EEO), supporting a variety of IT engineering and integration projects.

 

The candidate must be able to perform general IT systems engineering activities which include:

 

· Concept of Operations Formulation

· Requirements Definition

· System Architecture

· Analysis and Design

· Testing

· Validation and Verification

· System Integration

· System & Operational Performance Analysis

· Lifecycle Cost Analysis & Estimation

· Decision Analysis and Resolution

· Analyze, document, and maintain existing databases

· Work with teammates and customer representatives to collect, document, review, and update business requirements that must be supported by the databases and database interfaces.

· Support the use of and integration with COTS products supporting the same or related business processes.

· Support meeting security requirements relating to granular access

· Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and management of applicable compliance with the system technical implementation guideline standards (STIGs) and functional requirements for both unclassified and classified environments.

 

 

Enterprise system engineers work closely with colleagues, developers, testers, and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction. Additionally, the candidate may assist in providing guidance and training on a variety of systems engineering tasks.

Qualifications

 

Required Education/Experience:

 

· Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering (or equivalent) or related technical field

Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD

 

Required Experience/Skills/Attributes:

 

· 5+ years general engineering experience

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Systems Engineer

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Operational experience using MS SQL Server spanning administration and application configuration and security configuration.

 

Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes:

 

· Advanced degree in addition to an ITIL Certification and PMP Certification

· Excellent written and presentation skills

· Ability to provide guidance to project managers and engineering staff

· Ability to identify and implement process improvement

 

Clearance Requirement: SECRET (Active) with the ability to be granted a TOP SECRET clearance.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
