Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced, dynamic Task Leader to lead our Emerging Technologies team at the Department of State.
Location: Rosslyn, VA.
Role:
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership and project management skills, with a PMP certification or equivalent and have the proven ability to prioritize and drive multiple initiatives to successful completion. You will oversee a diverse team of engineers and cyber analytics professionals, serving as the primary customer liaison while ensuring high-quality project execution. You will need to stay current on emerging technologies, cyber security trends, and specific areas of cyber policy, including security baselines and outreach efforts. As the Task Leader, you will utilize advanced project management tools, including Microsoft Project and Office tools, to align team goals with organizational priorities. This position emphasizes strategic leadership, staff development, and fostering an innovative team environment.
What you'll do:
- Project Leadership:
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects to align with organizational goals and customer needs using the Agile framework.
- Act as the primary liaison between the team and customers, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
- Provide direction and decision-making authority for project execution and delivery.
- Team Management:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and cyber analytics professionals.
- Oversee team performance, providing mentorship and fostering professional growth.
- Promote innovation and collaboration to solve complex challenges in emerging technologies.
- Risk and Cyber Security Oversight:
- Apply strong risk management principles to assess and mitigate threats.
- Ensure cyber security best practices are integrated into all projects and processes.
- Stay current on emerging trends and advancements in technology, cyber security, and cyber policy.
- Maintain expertise in cyber policy, security baselines, and outreach initiatives.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Manage staffing needs, including recruitment, on-boarding, and training.
- Develop and implement strategies for staff growth and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.
- Strategic and Technical Planning:
- Drive technology proof-of-concept initiatives, innovation strategies, cloud-based projects, AI solutions, and process automation.
- Align team goals with organizational objectives and mission priorities.
- Leverage PM tools, including Microsoft Project and Office Tools, to manage project timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and a minimum of 14 years’ of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience can be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Ability to obtain/maintain prior to start date ONE of the following certifications:
CASP+ CE, CCISO, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CCNP Security, CEH, CFR, CISA, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, Cloud+, CySA+, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP ,GSLC, SCYBER.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in cyber security, project management, or a related discipline.
- Expertise in cyber security principles, risk management, and emerging technologies.
- Proven ability to manage and lead diverse teams in a technical environment.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum, MS Project).
- Demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships and expectations.
- U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a final Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or similar.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI/ML, blockchain, IoT, and advanced analytics.
- Knowledge of cyber security innovation strategy, cloud migration, and automation solutions.
- Experience working in the State Department environment or with government/defense clients.
- Knowledge of driving teams to achieve innovation in proof-of-concept projects, cloud solutions, AI, and process automation is highly desirable.
Target Salary Range
$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
