Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Technical Knowledge Manager to provide the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Datacenter Consolidation and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations & Maintenance Team to support the DHS Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) biometric system. The Knowledge Manager will capture and disseminate the operational and technical expertise required to maintain and improve this critical infrastructure. The Knowledge Manager will manage and expand our organizational knowledge base, document procedures and processes aligned with ITIL standards, and ensure that all HART support documentation is accurate, consistent, and accessible.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for HART support, including system configurations, processes, troubleshooting guides, and performance monitoring documentation.
  • Ensure all HART-related documentation aligns with ITIL standards and is kept accurate, consistent, and easily accessible to team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the various Peraton teams and government stakeholders to document new system software and hardware deployments, capturing critical information to support system reliability and performance.
  • Document the installation, configuration, and testing of HART infrastructure, including servers, networks, and devices.
  • Create detailed records of IT system operations, performance monitoring, storage utilization, and root cause analyses, contributing to proactive system management.
  • Plan and document strategies for hardware and software upgrades to accommodate HART system growth.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to deliver high-quality documentation that meets HART system requirements.
  • Engage with government customers to ensure HART support documentation aligns with DHS objectives and facilitates seamless knowledge sharing and system management.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) clearance prior to starting
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience collaborating across teams and with federal stakeholders
  • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to technical knowledge management within enterprise or federal environments
  • Proven experience in building and managing technical knowledge bases and documentation systems for complex, large-scale IT environments
  • Strong understanding and practical application of ITIL frameworks, particularly in knowledge management, documentation, and service operations
  • Hands-on experience managing documentation for cloud-based infrastructure, with a focus on AWS, including services such as EC2, S3, and VPC configuration
  • Proficiency in documenting procedures for system configurations, process workflows, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring, with a demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, organized, and accessible records
  • Technical experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Windows, and common open-source technologies in datacenter and cloud environments

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related STEM field
  • AWS or ITIL certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or ITIL 4 Foundation
  • Experience supporting or documenting biometric or other DHS-related systems

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
