Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Tier 2 Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Datacenter Consolidation and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program providing IT Monitoring and Service Desk support. The NOC provides continuous (24x7x365) monitoring and support and Tier 2 System Administration Monitoring and Support. The NOC provides a single point of contact for end users to receive technical support, request technical services and receive status about existing requests. The NOC will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 services that are critical to the successful operation of a technical support environment as it is the focal point for communication between technical solver groups. The Tier 2 NOC is central to the operational service model and is the focal point for end-to-end service delivery across the service operation lifecycle.
The Tier 2 NOC Technician role will be Telework and require a professional environment free of distractions.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
- Maintains and improve customer satisfaction by providing troubleshooting with ability to identify and report on routine issues.
- Maintain integrated hardware and software solutions.
- Adds or modifies hardware and software solution components to correct defects, improve performance, and incorporate additional capabilities.
- Provides user and system administrator support, including knowledge transfer and troubleshooting.
- Assists other systems support personnel assigned to the project as necessary.
- Support continuous, innovative, and proactive operational Tier 1/2 Network performance monitoring and support.
- Support effective and continuous NOC (24x7x365) network support to optimize network performance and utilization of network assets to promote a stable and secure network infrastructure providing high availability.
- Support continuous global and all enclaves monitoring network monitoring to include the transport layer, from core nodes down to the individual end-nodes and support of all networks and network devices.
- Identification, isolation, tracking, resolution, and documentation of network hardware or enterprise applications software problems, failures, or faults which may impede the end-user's ability to communicate effectively with other users, servers, or devices on the network.
- Perform system patching and compliance activities.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma and at least 3 years of experience in IT, network operations, or a similar role
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) clearance, which must be secured prior to starting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document issues, provide clear updates, and collaborate effectively
- Proven experience in a Tier 2 or similar role within an enterprise-level IT or Network Operations Center, with a focus on network support, troubleshooting, and escalation management
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Nagios and ticketing systems including ServiceNow and Atlassian JIRA
- Experience with Red Hat Linux and cloud systems administration, including system provisioning and management
- Hands-on experience with Ansible for automation and configuration, along with Red Hat Satellite for provisioning and lifecycle management
- Practical experience using Splunk for monitoring and log management
- Prior experience working effectively in a remote or telework setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AWS or AWS GovCloud is highly preferred.
- Additional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, (Obtain) AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or CCNP.
- Familiarity with automation or scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for monitoring tasks and improving network operations efficiency.
Target Salary Range
$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
