Peraton is searching for a Cloud Security Engineer to development, modernization, and migration in support
of a government multi-cloud environment with 50+ customer tenants and growing. Aside from
technical qualifications, application should have effective communication skills, both written and
verbal.
The ideal candidate must have security engineering experience and extensive cloud knowledge and
experience with integration, system analysis or programming experience, including developing cloud
systems requirements and design specification. A passion for performance, strong desire for quality
conformance, and attention to detail are prerequisites for this position.
The Cloud Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure
RHEL images. They will collaborate closely with our customers, internal teams, and ISSOs/ISSMs to
ensure that security best practices are integrated into the build and maintenance processes.
LOCATION: Remote (but must reside and perform all work within the United States)
WORK HOURS: This position requires working online from 8:00 AM Eastern to 5:00 PM Eastern
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
· Image building and maintenance:
o Develop, configure, and maintain RHEL images to meet customer requirements
o Ensure images are optimized for performance, security, and compliance
o Automate build and deployment processes using tools such as Ansible, terraform, and
Jenkins
· Security and Compliance:
o Implement and enforce security policies and practices in line with standards and regulatory
requirements
o Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans on RHEL Images
o Apply STIGs to ensure compliance with security protocols
o Perform regular audits to assess security posture and compliance
o Use Nessus to conduct vulnerability scans and address identified issues
o Collaborate with security team to monitor and respond to security incidents
· Collaboration and Support:
o Work with customer to understand their requirements and provide expert guidance on
secure image configuration
o Provide technical support and troubleshooting for issues related to RHEL images
o Document processes, configurations, and best practices for customers
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or IT
related field of study and 8 years of experience; or 12 years experience with a HS Diploma
· 8+ years of experience in security engineering, with a focus on RHEL
· Expertise in building and maintaining RHEL images
· 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools such
as terraform and Ansible
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Jenkins, GitLab)
· In-depth understanding of security practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and network security · Expertise with STIGs and their application in securing systems · Proficiency in using Nessus for vulnerability scanning and remediation · Experience conducting security audits and addressing compliance issues
Security Level Required
· Public Trust- Ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust Security Clearance (called “Entry on Duty”)
