Program Overview
Peraton provides a secure, worldwide, high-performance communications network comprised of real-time interactive applications operating over a dedicated IP backbone with secure services for complex national and worldwide executive-level communications. Peraton provides the O&M of the network infrastructure and its components, integration for development of hardware and software solutions, and task support for the delivery of system, network, software, and security solutions.
About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Lead Senior Systems Engineer, to join our dynamic Network and Unified Communications Architecture team of network and UC engineers in Alexandria, VA. The team provides IT hardware and software to support the goals of the contract, including performance based C4IM services, product support, and O&M for both legacy and newly installed systems.

 

Peraton has served as the prime contractor for the network contract since its inception in 1984. We provide executive-level government leaders with reliable security voice, video, and fax communications anytime, anywhere, in any environment for day-to-today crisis management. We provide a secure, worldwide, high-performance communications network comprised of real-time interactive applications operating over a dedicated Internet Protocol (IP) backbone with secure services for complex national and worldwide executive-level communications. Peraton provides the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of the network infrastructure and its components. We provide integration for development of hardware and software solutions, and task support for the delivery of system, network, software, and security solutions.

 

The ideal candidate must be an experienced multi-disciplined individual with lifecycle experience in information system development through operations. The position requires breadth and depth of knowledge related to design, software, networking, and information assurance and cyber security.

 

As the Lead Senior Systems Engineer, you are responsible for supporting a large, classified, unified communications system and for providing technical leadership. The system is a multi-level security, unified communication system, providing critical services including Voice over IP (VoIP), Video Teleconferencing (VTC), Audio Visual (AV) communication, and electronic document distribution.

 

The Lead Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for but not limited to: 

  • Perform technical planning, system design, and cost and risk analysis. Assignments are often self-initiated.
  • Collaborate with senior decision makers and other stakeholders in a highly dynamic environment to refine/improve solutions leading to rapidly fielded operational capabilities.
  • Evaluate and apply government cybersecurity (DoD, NIST, FIPS, and NSA) policies and instructions.
  • Apply advanced knowledge and skills to develop and champion new ideas and technologies and to solve highly complex problems with significant program impact.
  • Interact internally with management and customers on significant business matters.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Develop requirements specifications, top-level system designs, interface specifications, technical roadmaps/strategies, risk mitigation approaches, and transition strategies in support of system/program goals.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field and 15+ of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree and 13+ of relevant experience; or Doctorate and nine (9+) years of relevant experience.
  • Strong background in program management or a related technical field.
  • Experienced multi-disciplined individuals with life-cycle experience in information system development through operations.
  • Possess a strong breadth and depth of knowledge related to design, software, networking, and information assurance and cyber security.
  • Demonstrated track record of providing actionable, innovative solutions based on rigorous analysis and application of science, engineering, procurement and other skills to customer problems.
  • Ability to research problems and develop solutions and summarize findings both written and orally.
  • Excellent ability to communicate with a variety of audiences and to work with people with disparate backgrounds in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of enterprise IT planning and migration.
  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 8570.01M-compliant security certification (CompTIA Security+, etc).
  • Familiarity with DoD IA requirements, hardening, and patching (STIGs, IAVA/B, ACAS/HBSS/SCAP).
  • Ability to organize resources and work collaboratively to meet multiple team objectives.
  • Ability to interact closely with customer representatives on highly advanced technical and programmatic issues.
  • Ability to explain and present high-level technical subjects and processes related to assignments.
  • Independently compose and deliver reports and presentations of the highest professional quality.

The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.

Details

Target Salary Range: $146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
