About The Role

Peraton has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Systems Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will provide system network engineering and system hardware engineering support. This individual will support our Federal Customer located in Annapolis Junction, MD. This on-site position offers the right candidate the chance to contribute to important work in support of our country.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current software and hardware including performing upgrades and/or customization to servers, workstations and peripherals as required.
  • Be familiar with the government compliance regulations and internal software such as;
  • Build and maintain Cat6 Ethernet networks to include installing cable, terminating modules (Cat6, Coax, Fiber, etc.), and deploying DNS, DHCP, storage and back up servers.
  • Monitor Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) networks for outages and ensure network firewalls/devices are patched as required.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, server maintenance and network devices to ensure appropriate function.
  • Monitor databases, processes, and logs to ensure there are no errors.
  • Monitor network storage capacity and ensure scheduled jobs run as expected.
  • Provide system upgrades and system vulnerability patches, as required.
  • Check alerts and logs for errors.
  • Place and required tickets as needed, using government help desk services to maintain all IAFIS equipment and networks.
  • Carryout and support existing efforts to virtualize IAFIS servers.
  • Carryout travel requirements as needed to customer sites, Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) to support IAFIS equipment and networks.
  • Manage firewalls to correlate with changes to workstations under our System Security Plan (SSP).
  • Conduct site surveys for IT installations.
  • Install hardware and/or software components into computer systems or networks and customize as necessary.
  • Determine the procedures that will be required to solve technical problems.
  • Determine the procedures and system architectures that will be required to solve technical problems.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years’ experience or Master's degree and 10 years’ experience or Associate’s degree and 14 years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years relevant experience.  
  • TS/SCI with polygraph level clearance is required.
  • Experience with network security designs and solutions (i.e. VPNs, firewalls, etc.)
  • Experience supporting MS Windows Servers and Hardware.
  • Experience with DHCP, TCP/IP.
  • Experience with SQLServer, SMPT email server.
  • Network admin infrastructure experience.

Details

Target Salary Range: $146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
